the fan on the evaporator on my cavalier 96d just hums but does not run the fan turnes freely so i guess this means the motor has gone bye bye right?

Thanks alot Ill pull the cooling unit out this weekend so I can get the fan motor out and make shure it matches the one at funtronics before I order it.
I really like my 96 its a square corner but still cool I wish it was a little bit shorter but its still cool.

I know what you mean, My USS-96 is  bit tall, I really wanted a USS-64 but when I saw this USS-96 which was in very good shape and the price was right and it was only 2 miles from my house it was too hard to pass up.

Its a pretty easy replacement, there are 4 screws to take off, two in the front that hold the wire harness, and two in the back that hold the top of the evaporator lid on.  Just take out the bottom few shelves and you can get to the motor without taking the whole compressor out.

The only problem is the motor replacement doesn't come with the plug that goes into the front of the evaporator, so you'll have to cut and reuse the plug, or just wire the motor straight into the junction box on the right hand side.

So will i have to tilt the evap upward after i remove the shelves to remove the motor ? the fan started working this morning but im going to replace it anyway its doesnt seem to be up to speed.

Tough to explain without a photo, I'll see if I can find one of the evap motor.  The evap fan sits horizontal on top of the evap, not vertical like the compressor fan.  Once you pull that top piece off the assembly, you'll see that the fan is right in front of you.  It is held in by a bracket, which has four screws in it, two on each side.

Green arrow = the circle is the backside of the fan motor, showing how it sits on top of the evap.

I see the problem now my evap is a coil type the pic you are showing is different from the evap I have. this one is coiled up with the fan motor in the middle of it.
