I think that's the whole point Pat.
"Gee Hon, I tried to sell it, couldn't get any takers. Guess it will stay a little longerin the dining room"

NAH!! I think she will boot his machine and him to the dog house or garage.
Just ran it by the wife and she said there is no way you will put a coke machine  in my living room or dining room
your office is fine or down stairs at the bar  .

I saw that too.  I think that his wife told him to sell it. It don't sound like he wants too that is why the price is so high. Look at how he finished the ad.

i dont know i tend to agree with kilroys first statement, I've seen square corner machines listed on ebay with ungodly too high prices on them and they just keep em postaed and probably wonder why they dont sell lol.

There are a lot of people with high prices on ebay. I saw a plastic sign for the top of a square top listed at $400. I guess they think people will get desperate for a Christmas gift and buy their overprice item.

Give it time, people will see that no one is going to buy. You can ask anything you want, whether you get that or not is a different story. When I see machines like that over priced I'll wait on them because I know no one else is going to buy it, then once its been on there for a while shoot them a low ball offer, you'll be surprised how many will actually take it. Guy on the Denver Craigslist wanted $400 firm for a Vendo 44 shell. Sat there for a while then I sent him an email saying $250, and he took it. Right now a guy has a Vendo 39 and hes asking $1000. Been on there a while and then today I said I'd give him $400, and he took it. So give it time, you can find anything you want at the price you want to pay if your patient enough, but that's just my 2 cents.

I have not problem with people offering stuff at a higher price to more or less "Feel out the buying market". Good for them, if they get a bite... but chances are they will not and prices will drop... but we all would love to get the most for something we are selling if we can?
Give it time,, as others have said.. if he truly must sell it , price will drop.. if he's just fishing.. chances are he'll just keep the line in the water and see what happens.

The problem with this guy is he's asking about 1 1/2 times more than what it's worth. I see this all the time though expecially with large coolers. I think they price them by the pound.

So just out of curiosity, if this thing did cool & vend, what is it really worth?

Not anywhere near $3500, but how much is a reasonably clean, unrestored, working Cav 72 worth?

And while I'm asking a hypothetical question, how much less is it worth if it has the smaller embossing on the door?

I scanned and sent him the page from Jeff walter book and he was actually very appreciative. It turns out that the machine belongs to his wife and that is what she thinks it is worth and he said my email will help with a reality check. Usually when I do this in an email I get chewed out by the owner. It was nice to have actually helped.

I think the 72 is right up there close to the 81 and 56 in disirability. If it isn't it should be. These are multi vend machines and are small in size. I would not take less than $1500 for my 72. I paid around $450
