Title: Interesting finds around the office today.. Post by: SIGNGUY on December 22, 2010, 03:28:32 pm I was downstairs at my office the other day, digging through an old file cabinet and when I closed it I was looking at the handles and thought to myself, boy those look familiar.. It took me a few minutes and then it hit me.. They look like the original Door handles off of a Vendo 81 Machine.
I took one off, and campared it to an original door handle and they are the same!.. The reproductions are fine, but just not the same.. so I was kind of excited.. I know kinda strange that I get excited about door handles... but your the group that would understand this.. My wife was like "what?" :oops: Title: Re: Interesting finds around the office today.. I have been making custom cabinets for many years and when I got involved in restoring my first 81, I thought finding a new handle for the door would be a snap. After two weeks of searching and looking through every manufacturer's catalog i had, I couldn't find and exact reproduction of the original anywhere. I found something close but had to end up modifying the door just a bit. You can usually find old filing cabinets at local auction for almost nothing. Now I have another source to check out! Thanks!
