Friend bought a house at a foreclosure auction. Head out in the morning to pick up a coin-op pool table and a jukebox. No idea what they are but free is always good.
Interesting, the house is on tax rolls at 110,000, he got it for 37,000 cash. Someone has broken in and stolen the wiring and hot water heater. Glad they left the juke :-)

Times are bad when people steal the wiring and copper pipe out of houses. I ready for the geniuses to leave office and for another idiot to take over.

I was reading an article the other day that stealing copper wiring is a major problem in many large cities costing billions of dollars.
Getting it all put back together costs more than the materials.

You never know it might be some out of work Plumber or Electrician trying to get a job.

Detroit would have several dozen people die a year trying to steal copper wire from live transformers, either electrocution, or falling off the utility pole. The prices for scrap I guess were worth risking one's life.

That fact was in the article too - it has happened all over the country!

It is a sign of the times unfortunately.  They have been stealing the bricks, aluminum siding, copper piping and wiring out of abandoned houses in Detroit for years.  I work in a real estate related industry and you never know what will be missing from a foreclosed house.  It is not always outside thiefs who are taking the stuff.  A lot of times the people losing the home are the culprits.  :veryangry: I have seen houses where the entire kitchens have been removed--appliances, fixtures and cabinets--leaving a bare room.  Bathroom fixtures are also a popular item in the newer homes.  Not to mention furnaces and air conditioning units.  Take a look on CL and search high end (Viking, Sub Zero, etc.) on CL--those good deals are likely appliances stolen out of foreclosed homes.  The owners being foreclosed on have no right to basically destroy the homes that they are losing.  That is why a lot of these foreclosed homes are being sold for such low prices.

The people doing this think that the bank will not come after them but the bank has the right to pursue the deficiencies on the loans and any damage they cause to the homes for up to seven years after the foreclosure.  A lot of people don't realize this and that is why they do some of this stuff.

PS--Nice score on the juke and pool table!

We had someone last week get in one of our electrical tunnels at work and steal over a 1000' of 2/0 cable and ground wires. That's about 10 k worth of copper. They got scared when they cut into a 12k line that was energized and flashed on them.

Haven't been able to get over to take a look yet. This is 1/2 mile from the house. Roads are still slick and the idiots are out.

Cracked up, there was a news truck parked just waiting. It's a steep hill. We drove by this whole mess on the way to the store. Cops didn't show for 2 hrs. so the residents took it upon themselves to block the road.

Well proud owner of a 1973 Seeburg SPS2 "Matador" So tacky its cool.

I'm sure the purist think it is junk. Don't care.
Remember one from a bar years ago. It would rock the place.
Had one Barbara Streisand record and 34 cents included. Chrome and glass all good. Appears complete, pretty clean inside. Lights up but haven't played with it any further. Heavy bugger.
I see manuals from a few places. Anyone have a recommendation? Any suggestions welcomed, Thanks!

Pool table is Wed. heavy lifting exercise. 8' 1960's Valley 1" one piece slate. Oldest/nicest built Valley I've ever seen. Has some minor issues, but no biggies. Going to be a tight fit in the basement. Drill is going to be get all the piece's downstairs and get an guy over for new felt/bumpers and reassembly. If I survive will post an update :-)

Thanks! I did, $350 (only guy that will move 1 piece slate) until he heard stairs. Then it was that will be more and have to take a look etc... Have a crew of 6 assembled. Should be ok.
Too many cooks in the kitchen will be the biggest problem I suspect :-)

That is one far out juke!  Good luck with the pool table move and try not to end up with someone hurt.  I have had two very difficult moves like that.  One was a VMC-144SA (400 lbs) out of a basement where the steps turned twice!  :darn: The other was moving a 12 foot shuffleboard table playing surface (estimated 300 to 400 lbs) out of a basement where you almost could not make the turn to get it into the stairwell.  :wow: It had 4 guys on each of those moves and it is a miracle that nobody ended up in the hospital!

I'm gald I have a walk-in basement!

  Best place for the manual is Victory Glass, a company by the name of AMR reproduced thousands of manuals years ago. They can sometimes be picked up on e-bay alittle cheaper, that model is the SPS2. They sound great.

Tom apprieciate the recommendation will give them a call. The SPS2 has issue's. Will need to do some reading and go slow. Signed up on the Seeburg email list. Appears one better have their ducks in a row when asking questions or they get a bit snippy :-)

Pool table is a no go. Ran the serial # on Valleys web page. Pre 1959 so there is nothing available for parts. If you can't get factory correct replacement rails you are hosed. Also found out, if you take the base apart, odds are poor that the ball returns will ever work correctly again. No way an intact base would have made the turn at the bottom of the stairs. Oh well, learned a few things and nobody hurt. Coin-op pool tables are cool but have additional concerns for home use.

Good time to thank Jim and all the members of this board that step up and help even though it has nothing to do with a soda machine.

I just researched & found a bunch of places for jukebox parts.  I just bought stuff off a guy in California that had all the missing parts I needed for a 1958 Wurlitzer.  THere are a bunch of manuals available on ebay for them.

PM me if you find a decent website that discusses jukeboxes.
