Title: Anyone into jukeboxes? Need information on my new toy.
Post by: flippa on December 09, 2010, 10:54:50 am
I came across a jukebox yesterday when checking out a building.  I asked the owner about it & ended up taking it home.  It is a late 50's - early 60's wurlitzer.

Anyone into jukeboxes?  Looking for a site like ours that discusses juke repair & restoration.

Thanks

The 2150 looks a little different; the glass face on this one curves in towards the machine.  It is over at my shop; I need to go & get a few good pictures & try & find a service manual for it.  I only took a few pics with teh cell phone last night after unloading it.

The machine is all origonal & complete, but I need to find a piece of the aluminum frame for the front glass.  I probably will have my buddy who is a machinist fabricate the part if I can't find it somewhere.  It would be much easier to find the part though.

Any ideas on a good website that deals with jukeboxes?

This thing is gonna look real cool sharing space with the coke stuff.

jukeboxrepairservice.com has manuals, and repair parts. I've never ordered anything from them but I keep them in my bookmarks.

There is a wurlitzer group on Yahoo groups,  nice people, though the site has gotten really quiet lately.

http://webreports.netlojix.com/pipermail/jukebox-list

is about as close to a discussion board as you will get.

There is also a UK Jukebox list.. If you search British Jukebox Owners on google it will get you there.. I
have been a member so long I can't remember how I found it. Its e-mail based and there are quite
a few US Jukebox owners on it. Its probably a little more friendly than the Yahoo group and
they don't make you feel like a real fool if you don't know the technical stuff.

Did a little research & found out it is a 1958 Wurlitzer 2250, one of approximately 1800 made.

I also discovered that the older jukeboxes were often distroyed by the companies when they were traded in.  I guess this makes sence; they could continue selling new machines if the old ones are trashed every few years.

After reading this, I wasn't too hopeful in finding the missing parts, especially since there were not many of this style made over 52 years ago.  I never thought I would find the missing pieces for the dome frame or the rear cover.

It only took two days to find all the missing parts, keys, amp rebuilding kit & service manuals for it.  Gotta love the internet!!!

Watch out.  I got started collecting old Seeburgs 6 years ago and I now have 6 of them.  Its addicting.  Here is the one in my basement  Malt Shop

Hey Brian - the basement/gameroom area looks nice! I don't think I've seen pics of it with all your machines/signs and such in it.
Looks like a great place to hang out and soon bowl a few games!
On another note - I think that Herseys Chocolate Syrup on the counter needs to be refrigerated after opening - how cold is it in your basement?

That fountain service sign above the jukebox looks really cool.
I've never seen one before, is it reproduction?

Thanks for the kind words,

No Curtis made the Soda FOUNTAIN SIGN FOR ME.  Here are some more pics.  I have added lots of cool stuff over the last few years.  I still go down there every night to listen to the Seeburg 100C and play the 1939 Cheveron pinball
