Title: Vendo 39 compressor issue
Post by: nyrescue on November 29, 2010, 07:51:37 am
On one of the three relay bolts on the main cooling unit I have an issue.  One of the bolts snapped leaving on a little area to screw anything back on...my question is do they have any type of bolt extender out there?  Really do not want to take the unit apart and am looking for a better option.

was it a bolt or a stud with a nut screwed to it? was it an electrical contact or a mounting place for the relay itsself?

Sorry it was the stud with the nut screwed onto it....where the connectors get attached.

you may be able to use a stand-off female-stud (like the type used to support motherboards in desktop PC's, I believe the thread-pitch is 8/24 on the compressors terminal studs. check the thread size/pitch with one of the good nuts you've removed, if there is maybe 2-1/2 to 4 threads left you may be able to salvage it,

if not, U are ska-rewed

Yes there is some thread left..it snapped off half way just not enough room for that wooden washer and the connector.  So you think your remedy will work? Where can I obtain this fix?

take your sample nut to a tech-store like a Radio-shack, or a computer-builders store like micro-center, or a Comp-USA, etc. big box stores like a Lowes or HomeDepot should have a nice supply in the hardware isle
