Title: need to rent a good trailer Post by: vintage-air on November 09, 2010, 10:18:21 am Guys, I need to rent an enclosed trailer in the Elgin or St. Charles area for a couple of machines I need to bring back to Indiana. I've tried a couple of U-Haul places in Elgin with no luck. Who else rents trailers in the area? This would be a one-way rental from St. Charles to Indiana. Anybody have any Ideas, let me know.
Thanks, Jeff Title: Re: need to rent a good trailer Post by: SIGNGUY on November 09, 2010, 10:45:16 am I would think the only one way rental would be a Uhaul or similiar..
I'm sure UHaul has a 1800 number, and you just tell them when and where your picking up. Get a big one.. you can buy everything I have in my trailer! Title: Re: need to rent a good trailer Post by: MoonDawg on November 09, 2010, 11:15:15 am Get a big one.. you can buy everything I have in my trailer! If you buy everything John has.........he will probably give you the trailer  Title: Re: need to rent a good trailer Post by: BrianB on November 09, 2010, 01:27:11 pm Jeff,
Where in Indiana are you located? Title: Re: need to rent a good trailer Post by: vintage-air on November 09, 2010, 01:38:30 pm Brian, I'm located just north of Indianapolis in Carmel Indiana.
Title: Re: need to rent a good trailer Post by: loman4ec on November 09, 2010, 03:01:54 pm Penske also rent trailers. I am not sure if they are in indy but they are in Cincinnati. I have used the Uhaul open trailers and they are just fine. The enclosed trailers are no good for machines because they are not tall enough to stand a machine up and there are no tie downs.
Title: Re: need to rent a good trailer Post by: dr galaga on November 09, 2010, 09:10:23 pm You could always pick one up somewhere on the way. There are a few larger U-Haul places that are about 10-20 minutes off of I-65 and I-94 in Lake County (Schererville and Hammond). But, you may want to look closer to the show since anything with a trailer is considered a commercial vehicle. This means much more expensive tolls, especially if you drive during what they call peek periods!
Title: Re: need to rent a good trailer Post by: Kilroy on November 10, 2010, 05:28:53 am I would call those U haul shops, I imagine the closer in time and mmilage to the show, the more emopty the lots are with people who've already made reservations for a truck
Title: Re: need to rent a good trailer Post by: Cokemachinesandmore on November 10, 2010, 08:31:54 am There are several trailer rental places on north ave. east of the show (St. Charles). Try Looking in West Chicago, Glen Ellyn, Glendale Heights, Lombard. These are all towns just east of the show.
Title: Re: need to rent a good trailer Post by: David D on November 10, 2010, 08:41:29 pm Try picking something up on the way to the show, then the distance for the one way rental will be shorter. I did this years ago when I couldn't find a trailer and it worked out well.

I might be able to help you out, when are you planning on coming up to Chicago? Title: Re: need to rent a good trailer Post by: vintage-air on November 11, 2010, 08:29:21 am Brian, I'm heading up this morning. Borrowed a friends trailer. Not enclosed but I have a tarp to cover it. Hope to see you there!
