Title: Re: Before and After - Vendo 110 Post by: SIGNGUY on October 28, 2010, 10:34:45 pm I forgot the story? 10 bucks? who looks at a cool vintage machine like this, even if faded, and says 10 bucks? Common sense even if I knew nothing about antiques to ask for something more than that? but Good for you.. I actually think you over paid.. looks more like a 9.00 machine to me
I'll bet you could put that on the market and at least make 20.. maybe 21 bucks on it now.. double your money! Title: Re: Before and After - Vendo 110 Post by: collecture on October 29, 2010, 12:41:07 am Looks great Wayne!
And yes - let's see some pics of the innards. Title: Re: Before and After - Vendo 110 Post by: 90grad on October 29, 2010, 05:45:11 am John, this machine was in a local hardware store, buried in a back storage shed. I got to know the owner over the past few years and he basically gave it to me. I'll get some inside photos ASAP.
Title: Re: Before and After - Vendo 110 Post by: Funtronics on October 29, 2010, 07:15:39 am Nice job. Was this your first one? It takes a lot of work to do a V 110.
Title: Re: Before and After - Vendo 110 Post by: 90grad on October 29, 2010, 11:19:00 am Rod,
This was the 2nd complete restoration I have done. I did a Vendo 56 (can machine from the 60s) previosuly, but that cannot come close to a 110. I never want to do a 110 again. It was "interesting." My next project is a Cavalier 51, which shouldn't be too bad. Title: Re: Before and After - Vendo 110 Post by: Larry on October 29, 2010, 11:57:08 am Allright, $27.00.....and that's my final offer.
Nice job!! Was the center under the front door rusted through? Title: Re: Before and After - Vendo 110 Post by: 90grad on October 29, 2010, 01:03:18 pm Allright, $27.00.....and that's my final offer. Nice job!! Was the center under the front door rusted through? HAHAHA! Sorry, Larry. 27 bucks won't touch it. Pawn Stars and Rick's Restorations say I can get $7k for it. The center of the door wasn't rusted. I was fortunate. The rust on this thing was all surface stuff. Title: Re: Before and After - Vendo 110 Post by: halehouse on October 29, 2010, 04:51:13 pm That looks really nice Wayne. Has the previous owner seen it?
Title: Re: Before and After - Vendo 110 Post by: 90grad on October 29, 2010, 04:58:45 pm Has the previous owner seen it? Not yet, Dan. He is usually gone from the hardware store by the time I go past it on my way home. However, I am off this Monday and Tuesday, so I am going to try to stop by with some photos and an invitation for him to stop over Title: Re: Before and After - Vendo 110 Post by: RC kid on October 30, 2010, 08:22:29 am I love those vendo 110s. I had one once and I wish now that I never sold it.
It looks like you had a very good base from which to base your restoration on. Title: Re: Before and After - Vendo 110 Post by: Pat Pixley on October 30, 2010, 06:42:36 pm Wayne looks great , you did a great job. inside and out
Title: Re: Before and After - Vendo 110 Post by: 90grad on October 31, 2010, 02:30:57 pm Thanks, guys. Now, it's on to the Cavalier 51.
Also noteworthy, and as a reminder, this machine was painted by the local Vo-Tech student. They charged just for materials ($399), plus some pizza. For those of us who don't paint, this was a GREAT alternative.
