I have a machine that has a working motor but the compressor does not work. I purchased several parts for the machine online with the help of a retired repairman in North Carolina. One of them was some type of wiring harness for the compressor. It was a small investment and several people suggested I start there becasue of the small cost. However, I have no idea how to install it. I fully understand the problems with getting a commercial outfit to work on a 45 year old refrigeration unit that likely contains the old-type refrigerant. Therefore, I am looking for a repairman that works on these machines that lives in the Houston area. Can anyone help?

What model machine are you needing repair of?

I'm hoping for someone closer as New Braunfels is 3 hours west of me.  The machine is a Vendolator, not a Vendo.  I sent pictures to anyone who would look at them and was finally told that the machine was originally a Pepsi machine as is evidenced by the powder blue paint that is visible on the inside.  I was told that the Coca-Cola folks bought a lot of machines from Pepsi in the late 60s/early 70s and refurbished them for their own use.  I bought the machine for a song because the guy had no key.  I have since drilled out the old lock and replaced it but there is no use in re-furbishing this unit.  I would like to get it running and sell it so I can buy another!  As you can see some jackass cut the frame on this one so I will need one of those as well.

            Replacement of the wiring harness is not hard to do, once you remove the compressor (which is also very easy to do in all these early machines). Go ahead and give it a try........you can't hurt anything.

Well as far as the compressor yeah Eric may be 3 hrs away but it will be done right the first time
other wise you could contact a local appliances repair man and hope he knows what he is doing and does not
screw something up or over charge you  or both.

I have added some more pictures of the compressor itself.  It looks like someone has done some "work" already as there appear to be some pieces missing.  Can anyone confirm?

Looks like it is all there - you just need to wire it together; however, the relay and overload may or may not work. Worth a try though and, if not, just get a 3-in-1 hard start.

I already have a 3-in-1.  However, I am unsure how to plug it up.  The one close up looks to me like a part is missing.  Am I wrong or is this simply one of the points where the 3-in-1 is connected?
