Title: Question on Paint Codes
Post by: msanborn on September 21, 2010, 11:12:32 am
When looking at original 81A's, the red seems a little darker than the red in paint code red dupont centari 60807A, this could be for a variety of reasons, my question is this the proper code to use, I am about ready to take mine to the painter.  Thanks.  M

Mike,
I sent you an email earlier about this, but one thing to also consider is the photo... photographs will make colors vary quite a bit depending which light they are taken in, flash no flash, and also consider the machine, it could have faded, been repainted by the distributor, gas station or market owner.. lots of difference variables..
like i said in my email, if yours has a nice spot of good original paint behind the coin door or the backside of the coin door or under the backside of the door, somewhere where it wasn't exposed to sunlight... any good painter can take a profit reading to match the color. (Profit is a name of a color matching device painters use to match colors).

Good luck!

I noticed the same thing about the Dupont paint.  I have a machine that I had painted about 5 years ago by a local auto painter with that same paint. I always thought it was a little too light.  More of an orangy red.  I thought maybe it had to do with how it was applied.  Are their other codes besides the Dupont that are frequently used?

Different color, but I took the backside of my DP110 bottle door as a sample.
Hard color to match, but I think they did a great job!
