Title: VFA56 B-B (my first)
Post by: jgastonl on September 20, 2010, 04:50:43 pm
Hey pics of my first machine.  It is a Pepsi one, but being a COKE FANATIC it will be painted as a coke.  I have a couple of questions.  Bare with me as I have numerous questions and I know this is the best place for them.

1.)As I took out the refrigeration compartment, I noticed that the shelf below either was rusting badly or it was a combo of old insulation and rust.  What should be done for the future?  I'm thinking new metal and some kind of protective covering
2.)Confused about the drain tube.  Soldering back on after or before installation? Or is there a new part/mod?
3.)Would anyone have a measurements/diagrams on the paint scheme that was originally used for this type of machine?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Welcome to the board!

1) You are correct. Will need new metal and coating. The parts sponsors may have a bottom panel ready to weld in. Truck bed coating seems to be the favorite for sealing.

Best way is to remove the entire liner and replace all of the insulation in the shell. Lots of good posts if you use the search function.

2) Would be after the installation of insulation and restored liner.

3) Can't help here. Maybe look at the different paint schemes in the identification guide and pick what you like.

Cut out the old sheet metal leave a lip of the old pan so the new one has a place to set, then weld in place.
The spray in bed liner,  you can get that at Napa I think it is one of the best.
The Drain Tub after you get the machine painted and after you have installed
your insulation and tank then solder in the drain tub.

Paint and art work  I'm doing a Vendo 56 right now I will drop you a personal message Friday
on measurements and a few pictures.

but to be honest restoring it as a Pepsi would be cool that bright Pepsi Blue :tounge:

Thanks all.  I'll update you as I go.  It will be on hold for a week or so as I am waiting for my painter.

Pepsi Blue - lol, I'll pass.  I love coke too much.

Woodgrain - maybe...
