Very informative.  I love the "How Stuff Works" web site.

I have been collecting some motion beer signs for about ten years.  Everytime I would display one I would change the starter and put in a new bulb.  I had a pile of signs and recently decided to hang them up.  So I replaced the starters and bulbs.  Some of the new white plastic starters crapped out already.  I kept a few of the older silver metal starters and they still work fine.

Has anyone else noticed that the new starters are not as reliable as the old ones?
