Title: Re: VMC-144M for sale in PA Post by: collecture on August 31, 2010, 12:41:26 pm That's probably a little high, but is pretty equivalent to parts value!
The coin door and bezel is the same as a VMC-88. The coin mech is the same as a VMC-44/88 and could easily be modified for the V-44/56/81/LD 110 by simply cutting it shorter and drilling a 1/8" pin hole. The change-giver mech itself is worth at least $400! The rack ?? ?? - might have some value somewhere - could share similarities with the V-80, but is probably too deep for the 80. I'd see if you could talk him down - it is too big for most people. I am also scared off by the thread in machine values about the 144 SA where everyone feels that a 144 is not desirable.

I am also scared off by the thread in machine values about the 144 SA where everyone feels that a 144 is not desirable. I would think this is a little more desirable than the machine referred to in the other thread - the other is an automatic electric and this is a mechanical machine. Both will vend long neck bottles, but this is a single flavor whereas the other vends three selections; however, this machine has a lot more intrinsic value than the other because of the features I mentioned previously. Walter's 3rd book gives it an un-restored value of $575 - he also mentions that the bottle chute is the same as the VMC-88. The sign might be a good out for a lower price - $400 would be an amount that you would never lose money on it, but don't know if he'll go down that far from $650??
