Title: Re-inking a TGBWC clock
Post by: pinballdude on August 26, 2010, 12:46:17 pm
Is there any way to restore the colors to the raised letters on
the square plastic "Things Go Better with Coke" clock?
All the red and green have faded from the letters. The Red
Coke button is in one lower corner and does not use raised letters.
The TGBWC logo is in an upper corner.
What kind of ink can I use to let the light shine thru the letters
in the green and red colors?  I guess paint would block the light?
Thanks for your help.
Terry

COuld you stencil the letters and have them cut ut in vinyl? You could either cut them out in vinyl and use the vinyl letters or your could have the vinyl reverse cut and apply the vinyl and paint the letters then peal the vinyl off. I would think that either of those would be the easiest way to do it.

Talk with a sign painter... I know they make paints for translucent signs... maybe a
rubber ink roller would work... knew a man who restored all his machines using a ink roller... beautiful job came out clean and smooth....

I was just thinking about that a few weeks ago wondering if that would work. Glad to know it does.
