Title: Coke bottle opener Post by: scalebowler on July 27, 2010, 01:59:46 pm I got this coke bottle opener yesterday at an antique store. Not really concerned on how much it is worth but I am curious to know how old it is. Anyone know how old it is?

I'm thinking of bringing it back to school with me to use when I get mexican coke from the gas station next door to my dorm. Beats using a screw driver or the desk. Title: Re: Coke bottle opener Post by: Kilroy on July 27, 2010, 08:26:34 pm I have a couple, but truth be told, I never tried using them. I would think you'll lose it before it breaks
Title: Re: Coke bottle opener Post by: scalebowler on July 27, 2010, 09:10:09 pm I think that is true. The thing is really strong and in great shape for its age.
Title: Re: Coke bottle opener Post by: Creighton on July 27, 2010, 09:13:35 pm They work just fine!! Not as exciting when you break the bottom out of a bic lighter using it for a bottle opener though.

There are a ton of different brands out there... and are pretty cheap to pick up.... Nice little find..... Title: Re: Coke bottle opener Post by: mznb1u on July 27, 2010, 10:31:20 pm Put a chain on that and you can wear it around your neck like Cool Hand Luke!

Title: Re: Coke bottle opener Post by: scalebowler on July 28, 2010, 12:06:18 am I was actually thinking of putting a key ring on it and using it as a keychain for my machine keys as well as using it for its intended purpose. It was a tough decision either that or a small handle from a fountain machine.
Title: Re: Coke bottle opener Post by: MoonDawg on July 28, 2010, 12:20:21 pm A keychain is an excellent idea, also makes harder to lose your keys.

I'm kind of wishing now that I bought the fountain machine handle. I could have epoxied an eye hook into the hole and made a really neat looking keychain.Title: Re: Coke bottle opener Post by: scalebowler on August 03, 2010, 12:02:46 am I think I am going to post pics of the rest of the items I found there. I think I over paid for the 6 pack holder ($12) but it was the cheapest one in good condition I have seen here so far and I wanted one to bring with me when I go to the pop store so it worked out.

I, today just bought this 32 oz returnable Ting bottle to go with your can. This soda was bottled in my home state of Wisconsin. I recall drinking it (many flavors) in the smaller 7 or 10 oz bottles. There was an article about the soda and the bottler in "The soda spectrum" but I can't find it now. Neat stuff. Title: Re: Coke bottle opener Post by: scalebowler on August 03, 2010, 09:30:20 pm That is pretty neat! You know there are tons of little independent bottlers I that I had no idea even existed untill I got on this site. I hope to go back soon and get that handle. The thing just sounds like it would make the most awesome key chain for my machine keys and really hard to lose too. The handle looked kind of like the ones on this machine. http://soda-machines.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=701&Itemid=20
Title: Re: Coke bottle opener Post by: scalebowler on August 14, 2010, 08:59:35 pm How old do you guys think the two caps on the right are? They say minimum contents 6 fluid ounces and have cork behind them. Just wondering.

Sorry i can't zero it down closer
