Title: Machine taken apart for restoration???
Post by: jnapp18 on July 15, 2010, 05:34:48 pm
Before coke cooler is repainted.. should the body panels be taken apart...

As you see^^^ machine is in one piece... I told him i would like it disassembled. Is this necessary?

No need to take apart. Buddy should be cool with just the shell to re-paint. These are welded and could be in for a lot more head aches if taken apart

Yeah, I'd paint it like that. Sure will be a beauty.

It looks like a pretty solid cooler. And you a fairly close to painting. I would take a wire wheel to the lead paint around the Coca-Cola logo.

I think your going to be extremely happy with he finished product.

Good Luck.

Like C.C. Said your good to go any further and it may be a bear to get back together the ends are spot welded into
place  .

It looks like it going to be a sharp looking machine when done .

Good point!      Better yet get a can of paint stripper and clean off ALL those letters with the help of a wire brush. They will show up looking much deeper, not to mention possible chemical reaction produced when new paint contacts old paint even through the primer  :darn:
