Title: 7up cooler question Post by: scalebowler on May 12, 2010, 02:14:28 pm Hey guys I got someone offering me a 7up cooler with the origional tray inside for $50. Is that a good price? It has some surface rust but he said that there is nothing is rusted through.

Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: Yarochrehc on May 12, 2010, 10:09:53 pm If all the parts are there and it works, then yes.
Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: Pat Pixley on May 12, 2010, 10:14:45 pm Yes it is with the sandwish tray and corner pieces and a good handle, yes do it
Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: scalebowler on May 12, 2010, 10:28:33 pm Awesome. I sent him an email working out a time to pick it up. It looks like it would be really fun to restore and not too hard either. Are they hard to restore? Does not really look like it but I thought I should ask.
Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: scalebowler on May 12, 2010, 10:59:16 pm The other thing I like about this is that it is small compared to my pepsi machine so my parents won't get mad about me buying it. (they did not know about the pepsi machine untill a few weeks before school got out)
Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: scalebowler on May 12, 2010, 11:32:43 pm You know I actually plan on using this once I get it all restored. Does anyone use the ones they have? I just really like it and would like to use it as well.

Better start cycling on some steroids if you actually want to use the cooler, they are heavy SOB's when loaded with ice and beverages. Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: johnieG on May 13, 2010, 06:27:54 am make sure it's not rusted out on the bottom, often an over-looked area.
Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: davethebirdman on May 13, 2010, 07:45:46 am I have a RC cooler. As said they are really heavy when loaded but we have used ours... The kids loved filling it up and just taking it out to the garden and having a picnic on our lawn. These sort of items are really big with the VW set.... Over here anyways.. I had the chance to buy a 7up one once and passed on it. Should have grabbed it.. Dave Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: loman4ec on May 13, 2010, 11:01:00 am They are heavy but they are great to use. My dad used one when I was a kid. We would take it to car shows with our 57 chev. I remember the ice would last for days in it. I guess the metal is much better than plastic on todays coolers.

Creighton Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: Crazzy Canuck on May 13, 2010, 11:39:22 am Use my coolers all the time. Especially when going to pool parties.

I asked the seller and he said that nothing is rusted out. Kind of a neat little cooler.Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: scalebowler on May 13, 2010, 11:21:14 pm Awesome! I hope to get this cooler to restore and use.
Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: Pat Pixley on May 13, 2010, 11:44:48 pm I have a Pepsi one that I used for a short time took it too a party and some A$$ hole kicked it

I have a Pepsi one that I used for a short time took it too a party and some A$$ hole kicked it and put a nice dent in it ,so I have quite doing that for that reason. Is that why I haven't been invited back? How many times can I say I'm sorry. I told you I only drink Coke Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: scalebowler on May 17, 2010, 11:00:37 pm I contacted the seller about setting up a time to get the cooler but have not had a response. I sent them one more email letting them know I was still interested and if they don't reply then I will just look for another one.
Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: davethebirdman on May 18, 2010, 01:28:33 am I wouldn't worry too much about it... Another will be along soon. Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: scalebowler on May 18, 2010, 01:18:30 pm Yeah I am just going to let this one go. Oh well not getting it will give me more money for parts for my pepsi machine.
Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: kolby66 on May 23, 2010, 08:03:47 pm I have mine being sand blasted sometime this week, and then I will put some good epoxy primer and paint it white, I am still trying to figure out the best way to get the red onto the raised area, maybe a roller with a very short nap? good luck with yours.
Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: scalebowler on May 25, 2010, 12:14:59 pm I got an email back from the guy with the cooler again. He said he has been busy with work and has not been able to get to his emails for a while. But he still has it and it is still for sale.
Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: scalebowler on May 26, 2010, 12:14:11 pm Working out a time and place to meet now. Getting excited about it now. Looks like a fun cooler to restore.
Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: scalebowler on June 01, 2010, 10:52:17 pm Well he never responded so I am going to forget about this one.
Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: Creighton on June 02, 2010, 12:15:30 am Tons of coolers out there. Don't lose any sleep over this one. I like the aluminum ones by Acton or Progress. No rust issues, somewhat lighter loaded and cool like a champ.
Creighton Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: scalebowler on June 02, 2010, 12:48:33 am I'm not too woried about this one. Actually is a good thing because I now have more money for my other projects and some money to help me find some drive-in speakers. I actually found an operating 4 screen drive-in near where I am going to go on vacation and the best part is that it is 2 minutes from the hotel I am going to stay at. Out of everything we have planed for the trip I think this might be the highlight for me. I can't wait!
Title: Re: 7up cooler question Post by: Pat Pixley on June 02, 2010, 07:15:42 am when my bud's and I would go to the Drive in we would always take lawn chairs park our car in one spot then set up our chairs in the spot next to the car and hang out and have our pop corn & Beverage outside of the car (no mess in the car then) it was great.

You know that is exactly what we did. It was awesome! Nice cool night and almost no bugs at all. I really want to go back now. |
