Title: Lacrosse 120 illuminated sign help Post by: uamsclay on May 12, 2010, 06:46:35 am my machine is a lacrosse 120, and looks to be a red-headed step child, but i love it anyway. it is painted up like a Dr. Pepper machine, but in some chipped paint areas it looks like a light blue Pepsi color. to top it off the illuminated sign is Coke. i would just like it to match, and would rather buy a Dr Pepper sign to replace the Coke, rather than paint the box. any ideas on where to fine one? oh i forgot, the there are large Dr. Pepper and Nu Grape stickers on the sides, at least that matches. thanks for any help,

YOu can check with any of the parts suppliers ( their banner ads are here throghout the site ) Title: Re: Lacrosse 120 illuminated sign help Post by: Marketblandings on May 12, 2010, 11:19:38 am My LaCrosse has a 3D type sign (see pic). Title: Re: Lacrosse 120 illuminated sign help Post by: loman4ec on May 12, 2010, 11:40:43 am I agree with kilroy. I always just go to a sign ship and take them the sign frame. Do some research online and pick the logo that you like best then either put it on CD or on a thumb drive and take it to a local sign shop. They will cut the plexiglass and put on the vinyl logo. A good tip to make it look better is to put the logo on a white piece of plexiglass and then put a thin clear piece of plexiglass in front of the logo and it makes it look like the logo is silk screened on the plastic/glass like they were originally. It really makes it look nice.

Title: Re: Lacrosse 120 illuminated sign help Post by: uamsclay on May 13, 2010, 06:51:20 am i will get the measurements today and post again. the coke sign has faded some and the light bleads through pretty bad. i am a much bigger RC Cola and Dr Pepper fan.

Clay Title: Re: Lacrosse 120 illuminated sign help Post by: loman4ec on May 15, 2010, 12:03:18 pm That is what I would do. Original signs can be expensive and rarely can you find one that isn't either broken, chipped or fading. However John's RC sign is really cool. I always wither buy a new one from funtronics or have one made. I like having them made since you can let your imagination run wild and make exactly what you like. with these square tops exact originality doesn't effect value and you can easily put it back to the way it was. If the sign company doesn't want to make the logo in fear of copyright problems I always tell them that it is going in a vending machine that had the sign originally and replacements are not available. I had a shop in Florida tell me to do that. He said that since it is going in a machine that originally had a sign with their logo it makes it more of a grey area as far as it being legal. If they are just making a sign for the wall or display it is against the law but since it is replacing a sign on a vending machine made for the company it is not as illegal. I don;t know if this is tru but it has saved me several times after a company has said no.
Title: Re: Lacrosse 120 illuminated sign help Post by: MoonDawg on May 15, 2010, 03:47:13 pm The same is true when reproducing glass for a bottle door. I had a glass shop tell me they could not sell me single strength glass if it was going to be used in a vending machine.
So now if they ask, I tell them it is going to be used for a home project :tounge: |
