Title: What do I need to do? Post by: collecture on April 29, 2010, 11:30:24 pm This little Vendo 63 I just got has foil-cals on the price (says 50c) and a pair of "Do Not Deposit Coins If Bottles Are Not Visible" foil-cals over the debossed "Do Not Deposit Coins If Bottles Are Not Visible" on the coin entry bezel. Would a heat gun remove these easily?
I do not own a heat gun, but would buy one. What are the various uses for a heat gun? Could it be used to remove the Instructional decal from the liner of the Westy WB-60 I just got - I would like to get that reproduced. Would it harm the bezel or plastic liner? What do you guys use a HG for? Title: Re: What do I need to do? Post by: Creighton on April 30, 2010, 12:35:34 am Heat guns are handy but may be overkill. I'd try a hair dryer first to remove the stickers. Thing to watch is the first inch of output from a HG will light a smoke. Very hot. Darn handy to remove woodgrain contact paper, drying things and lighting a smoke :-)
The ones at the craft stores that are a cylinder for $15 bucks or so work fine. Industrial grade pistol style get really hot doubt you would ever need one of those. Post by: Kilroy on April 30, 2010, 05:58:49 am I'd be leary of using a heat gin to try to remove the inner lable, you run a real strong risk of melting the liner, Yes, they do give off that much heat. I've used mine to remove old paint and varnish from wood. I think I got it for under $30 at Lowe's.
for the foil stickers, i'd try the usual adhesive removers, Goof -Off usually works well. and only a few bucks for a bottle Title: Re: What do I need to do? Post by: Ltransam on April 30, 2010, 07:32:48 am I have Used Both ! And The Hair Dryer Is The Better Of the 2 .Because You Control The Heat Better I think .But You Still have to be Carefull .
