Title: Soda Sign Post by: Flightfanatic on April 11, 2010, 10:26:30 am Hello I just picked up two signs the other day, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about them or what they are worth, if they are reproductions or not.. The first one is a Hires Root Beer Sign, I couldn't find a date on it. The back of it is painted the olive green color. It says Made in the USA in the bottom left, and AAA sign Co Coitsville Ohio, and BN7 in the bottom right.
The second is a coca cola bottle thermometer/sign. The thermometer was broken, so I threw it away. It says Donasco Made In USA on the bottom. The back of it is also painted the same color green... Thanks for any info! IMO, that's good as I detest repro and fantasy signs ! Is your Hires Root Beer sign embossed ? If not, then it's very likely it's a repro.

-Dillon Title: Re: Soda Sign Post by: Chedki on April 11, 2010, 03:16:36 pm "Embossed" means portions are raised from the surface of the sign. It has nothing to do with layers of paint. You should be able to see the embossing very clearly without having to feel it.

The coke bottle therm is definalty authentic.. Made by two companys, Donasco and Robertson the repops are not marked on the bottom and the graphics have a "FUZZY" Look to them |
