Title: Ideal 300 Racks
Post by: Aron on March 31, 2010, 11:55:30 am
Can the racks from an Ideal 300 be cut down to properly fit in an Ideal 55 or are the proportions different?  In other words, if you cut down a 300 rack to fit in a 55 slider, would it look the same as a 55 rack?

I belive an 85 may be cut down length-wise to fit a 55, but a 300 is wider by one rack/channel & if you cut it down it wont line up with the flapper-axle...but I'm sure others here have more info hopefully..

Without seeing the 300 rack for comparison, I would think they are slightly different and the mounting brackets/screws may be located differently... Just a hunch though...

As stated, this may be a tough fit.The model 55 rack measures 13"x 28" vs. the model 300 at 21" pre 1950 and 21 3/4" post 1950 x 44 7/8". Then verify that you have a beverage (soda bottle) rack. Other optional racks that could be ordered for the model 300 were glass milk rack, paper carton rack, quart rack, and combination rack. The rack rail configuration and flapper assembly were different depending on which beverage was being dispensed. I highly doubt that it would work unless you are a hell of a metal fabricator.

Do you have a rack for the Ideal 300 machine that you would want to part with?
