Title: My latest Popperette Project Post by: BrianB on March 26, 2010, 06:19:34 pm I have always been interested in machining as a hobby but have never had access to the equipment or anybody to give me any pointers. That all changed about a year ago. At work we have an OLD tool room lathe and a couple of smaller-tabletop vertical mills. After doing some heavy reading and consulting with our division machinist I started trying my hand at turning metal and machining. I spent a lot of time practicing and learning the tools and the setup and measuring involved.
My first project I decided to try my hand at was reproducing the Popperette Oil Pump. I took me a while to get my process down but it was worth the wait! I used to do a lot of that in high school even went to a competition and won 1st place at state. Really really fun stuff.
