Title: Light in vend door vendo 90
Post by: on November 20, 2003, 10:39:22 pm
i am working on my first machine, a vendo 90 coke machine. i was wondering how do you get to the light in the vend door. i can see a lens cover on the right side when you open the door to get a drink but i cannot figure out how to get to it. i have changed my front light and starter but i can't get to the other one.
thanks,
kevin

I have the same machine and my inside cover is missing.  I have no idea how to remove the cover, since I don't have one.  Behind the cover you will find a flouresant tube which pops out very easy.  If I may ask?  How did you get to the front light?

look at the center area of the glass cover of the lamp, you will see a stainless steel strap, this is what holds the glasss cover on. now open the main door & remove the screw that lines up with the inside (rear) area of that strip of stainless strapping, it also passes through the door-liner.bend the strip out of the way (towards the front)& CAREFULLY slide the glass cover up & tip the bottom of the cover out of the bottom of the lamp slot.DONT DROP IT! IT's GLASS! or you'll be crying! :O now borrow yourself a pair of rubber/kitchen gloves & using you finger tips reach into the lamp area & rotate the lamp 90-degrees & remove the lamp., the gloves make it really easy to grip the bulb, & will protect you fingers if it should shatter. which they will do on occasions, replace & reverse  the instructions , & you'll be set to go. UNLESS the ballast is shorted (bad) in which case the new lamp will "POP" (Flash brightly & burn out in less than a second) like an old fashion flashbulb, or if the ballast's open, it won't light at all.
so don't be surprised if it should "POP" jhope this helps...JohnieG

If the bulb brakes....unplug the machine and cut a small potato in half, press the center on the bulb socket and turn it and it will remove the broken bulb if it's not rusted in the socket. Sounds crazy....but it has worked for me  :)
