Title: Question preparing VMC 110 wood frame
Post by: FRESNO MAN on February 01, 2010, 04:25:57 pm
I just finished cutting all the pieces for the wood frame that supports the VMC 110.

My question is this; after staining, would a high quality non-scented furniture paste wax (Briwax for instance) be a good way of protecting the wood?

I figure the wax would be good at repelling moisture and would not leave any tell tale scent like possibly a varnish would.

Anyone care to weigh in with their thoughts on this? :hopefull:

I would think anything you can do to protect/preserve the wood is beneficial.
Although I have not utilized Tung Oil in this type of application, it may provide excellent protection as it penetrates and hardens creating a good sealer. You would need to check to see if it darkens the wood color after applying...

I think there was some talk fairly recently on what to treat 110 wood with.  What is everyone's opinion?  Should treated lumber be used (liek is used on decks) or go with regular wood and staining?
