Title: vendo 23 Post by: stburger on January 22, 2010, 11:48:23 am There is one on Ebay now@$300. What is a good price to pay Steve
Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: Jim on January 22, 2010, 10:24:01 pm Is it complete, functioning, and in good shape...?
I personally wouldn't pay more than $400 for decent one. This was Vendo's cheaper model; kinda like a Chevy Chevette... Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: RC kid on January 22, 2010, 10:57:06 pm I like the Vendo 23, they're beat little machines. And if one were close to the house and priced for less than five hundred dollars, and it were presentable and in good working condition, I would pick it up. But I have to admit, I have a tendency to pay just a little bit too much for machines.
Don't forget to figure in shipping cost when you place your bid and also watch out for that fake bidding stuff that is designed to get you to pay too much for the item. Good luck! Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: stburger on January 22, 2010, 11:59:16 pm Oh boy, I am bidding on one now on ebay. I am higher than both of you suggest. I'm am new at this and still learning. I really do like these machines. Thanks for the advise. I live in Illinois and would have to go to PA. to pick up. 10 hrs .Steve
Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: collecture on January 23, 2010, 12:25:18 am I'd withdraw my bid if you are paying more than $500 including travel expenses. Patience will pay off if you wait. Many times I got excited about a machine and ended up paying too much only to find one in my back yard for much less. It is a hard (and expensive) lesson to learn!
Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: SIGNGUY on January 23, 2010, 09:09:37 am To each their own, but personally I would not drive 10 hours for a V23.. Patience will pay off if you can wait... but do what you'd like of course,, its' just my opinion.
Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: stburger on January 23, 2010, 11:45:59 am Thanks for the advise. How do you withdraw a bid
Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: stburger on January 23, 2010, 06:46:30 pm This machine is at 595.00 and I am no longer the highest bidder. No longer have to worry about with withdrawing bid. Am I missing something or does this guy live next door to the seller. This is crazey. Steve
Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: RC kid on January 23, 2010, 06:53:48 pm That's the fake bidding stuff I was talking about. They thought you were hooked and they were trying to get a couple dollars more out of you. At least that is my take.
Grandpa always told me, if it feels fishy, it probably is. And don't worry, another, better deal, will come along. good luck Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: stburger on January 23, 2010, 07:19:43 pm Thanks Dad, I feel a little bit better. I really like this machine and am I am no longer the high bidder.I was alraedy trying to figure out how i was going to get to Pitt. So if this is fake bidding on someones part, what do you mean??. I have a friend who has a VMC 27, right in my home town, maybe I should pursue him. He has had in storage for 30 years. Steve
Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: MoonDawg on January 24, 2010, 12:52:36 am This machine is at 595.00 and I am no longer the highest bidder. No longer have to worry about with withdrawing bid. Am I missing something Better withdraw your bid anyway. His friend can and will cancel his bid and leave you stuck as the high bidder. Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: Jim on January 24, 2010, 08:57:28 am Excellent call Glen ! ! !
Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: stburger on January 24, 2010, 10:35:48 am Glen, Will they let me withdraw my bid what would be my reason
Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: collecture on January 24, 2010, 10:45:33 am Just use "Entered wrong amount"
Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: RC kid on January 24, 2010, 10:58:50 am Fake bidding, (I know there is a fancy term for it but I don't recall it), is when a person is selling an item and wants to help drive up the bids artificially, he does this by having a friend or family member bid against other legit bidders, hoping the legit bidders want the item bad enough to continue to bid on it. If this friend or family member wins the auction it isn't an issue because the seller can just keep the item and repost it later because he knows his friend or relative isn't going to rat him out to Ebay.
This is also done at the big auto auctions. Payed bidders are inserted into the crowd to bid on an item that has a reserve in an attempt to stir up interest in the vehicle. This is done mainly on vehicles with rather sluggish bidding activity. Since the vehicle has a reserve and the payed bidder knows what the reserve is, all the payed bidder has to do is remain below the reserve in order to stay safe. There are lots of little tricks to win at the auction, some require money (being the highest bidder) and some require patience and observation. I watch items all the time in order to see what is in demand and what isn't. And if I see something I want I wait until the last minute to bid, or better yet, the last second. But if I really want and need the item I just bid high. I bid the most I am willing to pay and let it be. And most of the time on ebay I am out bid by just one dollar. Oh well, such is life. I learned all of this the hard way, by paying to much at the auction. And I still get suckered. Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: Kilroy on January 24, 2010, 11:18:53 am Fake bidding a.k.a shilling.
And not everyone auction where the current bid is higher than one would expect to pay is a planted bidder. Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: stburger on January 24, 2010, 03:22:33 pm I did withdraw. It was at 595.00 and when I withdrew it went down to 560.00. Why did'nt it stay at 595.00. Thats what the guy placed for a bid. Steve
Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: MoonDawg on January 24, 2010, 03:42:49 pm The guy who outbid you (with only 2 feedbacks) needed your bid of $590 to get the price that high. Since you withdrew your bid he now is sitting with the 2 highest bids on that machine. This was shill bidding, look at the bid history.

Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: RC kid on January 24, 2010, 04:19:42 pm The term is shilling.
Thanks! Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: stburger on January 24, 2010, 07:02:48 pm I hope I did nothing wrong here.I just don't think this fake bidding stuff is fair. Thanks for everyones input. Thanks Steve
Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: Jim on January 24, 2010, 08:11:14 pm Another educated consumer wins ! ! !
Glad to see you made the right decision. Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: RC kid on January 24, 2010, 08:12:57 pm It isn't fair. It is the same as running a con on someone. At least that is the way I feel about it.
Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: stburger on January 25, 2010, 07:53:28 pm That machine is at 660.00 am I missing something or does this person want it bad.
Maybe he won the lotto. steve Title: Re: vendo 23 Post by: Kilroy on January 25, 2010, 08:29:15 pm Wants it bad, got caught up in bidding, , wants it bad, or shill bidding. your pick.
