Title: VF56 Square Top - Lockslide Stud
Post by: russelltatedotcom on January 21, 2010, 06:41:10 pm

Hi guys,
I have a Square top Vendorlator VM56 Square top Pepsi Machine and have a vending mechanism problem.
The Lock slide stud has broken off (see photo)

I wonder if any one has a replacement part for this item or do you think I could just re-affix the stud somehow?

Thanks in advance for any help!
regards
Russell

VF56 Square Top - Coin Switch Defective (Coinco S75 9899A)

Hi guys,
I have a VF56 Square Top and I have a problem where machine takes coins does not release drink etc.
I ran a test as suggested in the manual
"with short wire make jumper from common (blue) to normally open (yellow)"
and I got the machine to vend.
Suggested cause  as listed is Coin Switch Defective.

I'm wondering where I can find a spare Coin switch or if I should ship the whole coin mech off to the USA (I live in Australia) and get a replacement/refurbished unit?

Appreciate any help on this one!
regards
Russell

Does the stud thread in or anything like that? If it does you might be able to put a bolt in there that is the same size and length. Not sure if this would work though but it is an idea

Somebody here probably has one to spare. Worst case scenario is you partially disassembly the stack and have the stud welded back on to the lock slide.
You're in Australia - correct? Might be less expensive to have it repaired.

Have you tried using other coins, such as nickles or dimes?  There are coin switches for 25c, 10c and 5c.  So if one is bad, maybe the others work?  You may also be able to manually move the 25c coin switch to see if it is out of adjustment, if you have the manual there is a procedure for checking it.  I can step you through it if you need.

So...what types of coins are you using in the machine, Australian or American?

If its for home use, why not just hook up a push button switch between the blue and yellow wires.. Bypass the coin mech completely and keep an eye out for one on your side of the world..

Hi Guys, thanks for you replies!
I am using American coins and 5,10 and 25¢ all just drop through.
Incidentally the Insert correct change bulb is not working and when I fill up the chambers with coins the slide switch which empties them is also not working?

Thanks guys,
Yes I am in Sydney ( I am sitting here with my shirt off because it is so damn hot this morning, If I could email you some spare sunshine via email I surly would)
Funtronics came back and said the did not carry that part so unless I can find a spare one i'll have to look into asking a local garage to try and weld it.

Just incase I go the welding route, what kind of metal is the plate the lock slide stud was originally attached too?

It may be the vend switch at the bottom of the stack that is causing your problems.  If I'm not mistaken, you had the pin break off?  If you want, engage the switch at the bottom of the stack, and see if the coin mech will accept coins then.

Basically, that switch is telling your coin mech that the machine should be vending, so it won't accept any coins.

On this machine the vend-switch on the bottom of your bottle stack does indeed control the "CREMS" (that's the Coin-Return-Electro-Magnets for you newbies.) which would cause them to reject all coins in this instance.

But this circuit is feed by line voltage & is independent of the coin-return motor & coin counting circuit board that uses 12-volts DC to count coins & dispense change ( not to mention trigger a vend cycle down to the solenoid on the bottle stack too)

you can repair your missing vend switches broken trigger pin by carefully drilling a hole in the levers arm where the rod used to mount & replace it with a #4 nut & bolt setup of the same length ( sorry I don't know the metric equivalent of a no. 4 SAE bolt), or get a replacement parts stack & transplant the lever & pin onto yours.  unless you know a hobby welder or jeweler who could silver-solder or braze the old pin back onto the lever, it doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to work. hope it helps

FYI... I merge the two topics as they relate to the same Item (IE: the vending switch & the broken stud/pin)
