Title: Westinghouse 42-T Jams
Post by: stroudbs on January 13, 2010, 10:06:49 am
I have pre-60s Westinghouse 42-T that takes the small coke bottles. The thing jams most of the time. It seems to crank ok without bottles. Is there anyone that can help me figure it out? Are the newer 8 ounce bottles the wrong size for this thing or could it be a linkage problem?

You need to shim the bottle stack on the sides to take up the slack. The newer bottles are not as large of diameter as the older bottles

Thanks. I'll try that. What would you suggest I use as shims?

Some people have used Velcro strips and others plexi-glass strips. You only need to shim up the bottom part and not the whole column. Taking up 1/4" should be enough - I don't think the newer bottles are more than 1/4" smaller in diameter. If you have an original, then take measurements of both and figure out the difference.
