Should have most done by Christmas.. the Pumps are done, the v81 and 39 are 95% done and the Pepsi 88 just needs reassembly... I'm working on all of these at the same time,, hope I got all the parts in the right spot! :hopefull:
I might have a Bennet Gas pump that dispenses bottles and a Vendo 39 that pumps gas.. hmmm

Nice job!  I take it you just use the same red for the Coke machines and gas pumps (is it called Texaco red or Coke red :upside: ?).

No, actually it they are two different shades, the Coke Red is color matched to an original machine and have been using that red for years, the Texaco red is a different shade, close but it is different... That red is color matched to the reproduction Texaco Colors so that it matches and look right when they are paired together.. Photos can vary depending on the light.. Thanks for the comments.

excellent work!!

Isn't just amazing how many different shades of red there is. And I used to think that Coke red and Texico red were the same. Heck, I thought they were the same and they were a primary color (primary red) like on the color charts in art..

Those look great John! I really like that shade of blue on the 88. Do you have the code for it?

thanks Guys... The 39, 88 MS 80 and benny 966 pumps all belong to a customer.. did a total restore on all of them for him and shipping them out to him in the next few weeks.. the 81 is for another customer that is finishing up a gameroom...
I have some popcorn machines coming up next and a few more gas pumps... so winter will be busy for me...
lots of work, but it's still fun! so that keeps me going!

Nice job John!
Do you redo the internals on pumps? (Does anyone?) Do they stink and can they be deodorized?

Tom, to answer your question... Most of the pumps I get wether I buy them or from a customer to restore have the pump guts removed already.. I think i've only ever run across a few with the original pumps still in them.. .and Man it makes them wiegh another couple hundred pounds!  SO typically whats left in the pump is the main computer, the frame, the Site Glass Manifold (if equipped) and the light assembly.  All of this gets removed, blasted , frame usually gets powdercoated and the other parts repainted , rewired, site glass mainifolds dissembled, soaked to get old gass smell out of them, cleaned, painted and reassembled. the Computers get soaked in my "SUPER SECRET SOAKING SAUCE"  which loosens and removes all dirt, grime, dead mouse carcasses, bee's nests, etc... number wheels are cleaned , the whole unit powerwashed, lubed and usually just the bottom half gets a quick paint job to make it look nicer.. There are some guys, or actually only one guy I know who Restores these computers and i'ts amazing,, takes them completely apart ,cleaned, repainted and reassembled.. Meticulous work (Tom, you'd probably like him), kind of like working on a change giver mech I'd guess)... The main detail of the pump is the body, as the pumps I restore are for display only... so that gets the fully restoration treatment and they turn out great!  They are acutally a pretty easy restore, compared to a soda machine, less moving parts, and pretty simple once you do it a few times..

Nice work there John. Love the colour of blue that you chose. Good that you're keeping busy with restos during this time of year as well.

pumps still take a lot of work easier than most soda machines but still a lot of work to make them look so nice.  Very nice work.

Awesome work, John!  Anyone would be proud to add one of your machines/pumps to their collection!
