Title: Chicago Coin Op show
Post by: Marvin on November 13, 2009, 06:41:50 pm
Went to the show for the first time this morning.  So much stuff to see and so little money to buy.

I met a few people from the site.  Sorry I didn't make dinner last night.  Had to go with family for Gino's pizza.  My son's name is Geno so he wanted to go.

I did not take a single pic today.  Had the camera, nut was looking to fast and hard to stop and snap any.  I will go back in the morning and try to take a few shots to post here.

Was there anything that really stood apart from the general stuff...?

Got back late last night from the show.. Lot more dealers than in April ,so pretty good selection of stuff, nothing extremely rare except for a Lyons 200 Cup machine that a few guys on here where drooling over, but the 1500 price tag  didn't land it in any SMC members truck/trailer.. saw some other guy wheeling it away.
Lots of the same old stuff, Some good deals to be had ,depending on what you where looking for ..
81's could be had for aroudn 1600-1800 for the most part, sliders went from 225-1200 depending on who was selling (the 1200 Guy was smoking crack) but he thought it was gold I guess..
Some nice signs where available, bougtht a NOS 16" fishtail sign, guy had a stack of 18 of them... sold them all.
I didn't go inside this time, didn't need to spend the 50 just to look around , oh well, I'm sure someone wil report on the inside..

Overall had a great time again,, I bet we had over 25 of us for Dinner on Thursday and of course, don't think anyone took a picture.. :darn:
but had fun, and we where (most) up early in the Parking lot at 5am and we (Eric and I) where not the first ones this time.. some dealers where already unloaded and set up by then... so it's getting earlier every year! very cool. but makes for a long day!
I have some photos I need to download and post in the Photo Gallery section later today.

Had a great time Thursday night meeting all of you, the numbers are growing each time we meet, I think 7 made it to the first one, now for the next meeting we may have to rent Wrigley Field. I'm sure we would make a better showing than the Cubs, right Matt?  (just kidding all you Cubs fans)

Photos of the 2009 Fall Show are now up in the photo gallery.. Nothing too unusual or out of the norm, but gives you an idea of what it looks like if youve never been... I didn't get inside this year, so not sure if anyone else has more to contribute..
enjoy.

What was the deal with that disassembled Double Cola cooler?

Was a fun show... enjoyed meeting up at Portillo's and talking everyone.. then Friday morning hitting the lot
As John said he and I got there at 5am to see it already busy... so we had to hussel... only to see others in passing to ask “find anything yet?”  we walked that place till 10 and beyond... John picked up a few things...
I bought nothing outside, did see a Pepsi Heintz cooler but out of my comfort zone since I bought a Pepsi 33 the weekend before the show... I did find a nice Nichol Kola bottle display inside thanks to TomfromJersey on Saturday... (Don't worry Chris you already have it... the sailor girl... I'm trying to catch up)
I thought there was less gas stuff inside and more soda signs and smalls inside than in April...

The Quikold Double Cola Cooler panels were Toms.. he's gonna put it back together should be killer when done.
I didn't take many pics this time around either... too busy looking... What I have I can send to John as it seems everything I post loads the size of a dime... Ha!

I came back Saturday to look around.  Most everyone was gone from outside.  Only a few people there.

What amazed me was the amount of floor traffic on Saturday morning.  You could not walk through the place for the first 2 hours.  Never been to any show with that much attendance!  I think the people that went home from outside missed alot of opprotunity.
