Title: Help on a value of a Dr Pepper 81
Post by: COREY on October 20, 2009, 08:22:10 pm
I need some help. I have found an original Dr Pepper 81 machine and I can get it for $2200.00. Is it too high or do I need to pass. He came down from $2500.00. I know it is a generic machine but it sure is nice! Just curious!

The last few generic VMC 81's I have seen sell were about $1500.00.  I don't recall seeing any DP 81 sell as of late.  The sign is worth 200.00 or so.

I think 2000.00 is closer to a good deal.  I guess it just depends on how bad you wnat the machine if you can get it for 2200.00

If that is the one on Sacramento Craigslist, we have been discussing it on on another post. Better check it out cause you're getting close to a good deal.
(And you know he wouldn't turn down 20 one-hundred dollar bills)

In my opinion, a generic 81 can be had for under $1500. I can name at least 3 members on here (myself included) that have acquired them for that price or below - I think I've got $1100 into mine. Patience and persistence will pay off if that is what you want.
Signs too can be had for reasonable prices - I just acquired this DP sign for $60 - it is not mint, but not too bad either - looks about like one of the two on the sides of this machine if I recall.

Yeah, it seems like a DP could be made from any decent generic model.

I would say $1500 no more that $1800, $2K would be pushing it. A few bucks more and you could have a Pepsi 81

My next project is going to be a generic 81 done as a Frostie machine. Does anyone have a line on any generic 81's? I'm in Fresno (central Calif).
