Title: Hires Root Beer office water cooler... Ever see one? Post by: sledworks on October 13, 2009, 03:36:13 pm Picked one of these up today. (Slightly different color than the picture.) Didn't know Hire's licensed these. Real nice shape. Keeps cold. Has small refrigerator and freezer area in the front. Enough to store a sandwhich, some other drinks and a couple trays of ice cubes. Cool design.
I also have an original, glass 5 gallon Hires water bottle that was used in these. And the wooden shipping crate the bottle came in, also marked Hires. Any literature on these? Where did you pick it up from?
Title: Re: Hires Root Beer office water cooler... Ever see one? Post by: sledworks on October 14, 2009, 05:55:04 pm Picked it up near Allentown, PA. Interestingly, I found another one just North of Allentown. Never saw one in my 44 years, and now I find two in a week. Things work that way. Plugged it in this morning and got cold pretty quickly. I plan on using it in my office. I have other old vending and soda there too so it will go great. Line cord is a bit frayed so I will replace it. Needs a good dusting but otherwise ready to operate for many more years..hopefully.
Since Hire's was out of Philadelphia, I'm wondering if maybe their water service covered a certain radius close to Philly and thus you're more likely find these coolers in eastern PA and central NJ. (MFG by EBCO but Oasis is also on the cabinet.) Just a thought. Jimmy Title: Re: Hires Root Beer office water cooler... Ever see one? Post by: oscar on October 14, 2009, 06:28:37 pm You should paint that in Hires colors and add some vinyl decals.

It has the sandwich door and all. Its and oldie just painted gray with a polished stainless top. Its been in use in my shop in NJ for atleast 15 years. I just pulled it when we came across a few plastic coolers. I planned on repainting it at some point and taking it home..
