                   I was just wondering if anybody is also a car junkie as well as soda machine addicts. I myself am into as much stuff as I can get myself into. Although the soda machine bug has definitely opened up a whole new world of cool things I can bring home.

I probably wouldn't consider myself a junkie,  :tounge:, as I have two very "practical" cars right now.  The coupe is a '67 which I just ordered new center caps for the wheels. The other is an '07 GT convertible.

Wish I still had many of my old cars :-) None right now. Searching for a vintage tow vehical for the 1964 Serro Scotty camper.

I have a few. My favorite is my high school car, a 1964.5 Mustang convertible. I also have a 68 California Special, 52 Ford pickup, 38 Ford pickup, 3 Model A's and a hand built lakester/Indy type car with a V-12 Lincoln flathead engine.

Working on soda machines and candy machines has really slowed down my car time though!

WOW that is quite a collection! WHere are the pics? Is the stang the same car you had in high school or just looks the same? EIther way that is cool. I don't think I will ever collect my first car. I think it was 1996 and I had a 1982 chevy S-10 long bed lowered with shaved door handles and  a loud thumping sound system. Yes I was one of thise punks with the loud bass. I am glad I grew out of that phase quickly :)

I have a 1929 Model A, a 1950 Ford truck, and a 1998 Boss Shinoda Mustang.  I recently sold my college car...a 1959 Ford Galaxie and my 1962 Ford truck.  Still wanting to get a 1966 Mustang convertible someday!   :hopefull:

Nothing vintage but I do have 3 1984 Ford EXP's with 2 of them the hard to find Turbo Charged version that I am restoring. For those of you who don't know the EXP was basically Ford's 2 seat Escort. My very first new car was an EXP so when I found 1 for sale I purchased it, next thing I new I had 3. I hate that when that happens  :laugh:

I would love to see those EXP's not a classic but I did have an 86 EXP.  Gold with black trim.  Loved that little car but it got totalled on an icy Michigan road.  Luckily, my wife made it through the crash with a few bumps and bruises.

I wish I still had my first car.  Again not a classic but a 1984 Mustang GT Turbo - - hard top with the factory sunroof.  I believe that less than 2500 of those were made.  Great car and that 2.3 L turbo charged 4 cyl was pretty darn fast from 60 to 90.  You were not going to beat anyone off the line with that car but it was fun to drive.

Tim, nice car!  My third car (first regular driver) was an '84 Mustang GT Convertible with the 5.0L!  Great car, wish I still had it!

Creighton, there was a really nice, original '55 Ford wagon here that just finally sold.  It would have been great, and not much work to do!  I think they got 2K or 3K for it.  Picture below...

The other picture is our trailer, it's a 1960 Avion.  Still doing work on it, and like you, need to polish it!

Here is my latest acquisition it is a 1984 Turbo it is the early Frog Eye'd or as I like to call it the Muppet front end where the 86 had the Escort front end. I used to own a 86 too but ended up scrapping it in the early 90's. Still regret that decision.

FDNY1975 would like to see a pic of your 55 chevy pickup, you said its a 5 window model. i thought 54 1st gen was the last of the deluxe 5 window models

I love that 55 chevy with the camper! Do you have more pictures of that? I would love to see them.

I couldn't afford the 57 chevy I wanted so I had to settle for this. Don't laugh, this car is a fifteen year old used car and was way cheaper than a 57 Bel Air or a 69 Chevelle.

And the weekend project is an 81 Corvette. Here is a picture of me and my son in the garage.

I bought it years ago and work on it when time and finances allow.

The plan is to install a 383 in it this winter and then soda blast the car in preparation for paint. I hope to finally have it on the road before spring.

Isn't great how old cars and old soda machines just kind of go together. Like a coke and a hot dog.

It's so true RC kid, He is one more the blue and white is a 1955 1st series Chevy, and the red one the 1949 Chevy.

My passion for old hot rod cars led me to restoring old gas pumps, air meters, cans, etc and that led to soda machines and coolers.  As I like to say, the garage is now too small and Sherri replies that there is too much "junk" in it.  But it's real nice junk honey.

Here's mine, I bought it for $50 in 1958 when I was a senior in high school.  It's the first car I ever owned and I have had it ever since.  Started frame off restoration in 2004.

Nice car--glad you kept it original!  I love old cars--especially the originals!

I don't have an old car but I have many favorites that I would love to have.  Top of the list would be an Auburn 851 Boat-tail Speedster or a Cord 810.  These cars exemplify a time when autobody design had no limits.  They just don't bend steel like that anymore and sadly, never will!

The best mascot (aka hood ornament) ever to adorn an automobile is the Lincoln Greyhound used on the Lincoln's of the late 20's and through the 30's.  Designed by the silversmiths at Gorham in 1925, it is a work of art all by itself!  You just don't see details like this on cars today.  All the imagination, creativity and flair that the auto designers used to have has given way to aerodynamics and fuel economy.  :down:

Allright Tim, you know what it is! In my experience, not a lot of folks do. Not doing the fake blower and body flares/spoilers, going to keep it mean and lean. LOL

Yea...can you believe that color was factory (Wild Violet) and the ugly yellow primer...not mine. This thing is unbelievably straight and most amazing of all RUST FREE! Took the 351C out last winter and am looking for either a C-4 or C-6 tranny. It had an FMX, but what I plan on doing to the engine; the FMX won’t stand up to it. BTW- the FMX is all rebuilt like new if anyone needs one….trade?

Old cars is how this all started... coke machines, jukebox, pinball, gas pump, air meter, penny scale, I can't stop  :help:

cdc--that is my favotrite year for the Charger--very nice!

Jimbo--love the firetruck and may buy one someday.  I see them every now and then in the Wheeler Dealer but I would need another garage to put it in!  If money was no problem I would love to get an old Seagrave Safety Sedan.  Not too many of them around but the Detroit FD used to have a lot of them.  The one in the second picture is being restored by the Detroit Firemen's Benevolent Fund to be used for funerals for Michigan firefighters lost in the line of duty.

Thanks Tim... the 66 Charger sure reminds you of how much cars have changed in 44 years.... it's a 440, with power steering and an automatic, but manual, four wheel drum brakes with a single master cylinder... loves to go fast, but you gotta plan your stops   :biggrin:

My daily driver is a 64 El Camino that's all original. I also have a 62 Ford Falcon 2 door that I'm going to restore for my daughter.  I sold my other two classic's. One was a 71 GMC 2WD blazer frame off custom and the other was a 67 Chevy stepside full on custom build. The 67 was featured in several magazines and won numerous best of show awards. It is now in a private muesum in Japan.

Anybody know enough about cars who might be willing to give an opinion about what a car might be worth? We are thinking of getting rid of ours (first pg of this thread) and getting another Mustang, but are having trouble narrowing down what it might be worth. It's not as easy as a newer car where you can just go to NADA or KBB and get a pretty good idea. Even trying to compare similar models for sale is tough. What do you think is the best way to find out the value?
The tricky part for us is we'd like to take the $ out of this one and put it towards the next, but being novices it is tough to know that you aren't selling too low and buying too high.

Best way I know is to hook up with the regional Mustang club. Find out who does the most repected independent inspection. Get the word out that you are open to trades. What are you looking for?

With no major issues that is at least a 6K car here. PM if you want and can talk more.

I would think so. Anything I've seen in a coupe that is much under $8k seems to need something, whether it be paint or something new in the interior. Under that they don't seem to be nearly as nice, but it's tough to tell when just looking online.  I sent you a PM

They do. But, I get a low retail range of $8,338 and an average retail of $18,975.  By the description below from the NADA site I would consider it "average", but that's retail. (High retail $22,540) That's quite a range.

Low Retail Value
This vehicle would be in mechanically functional condition, needing only minor reconditioning. The exterior paint, trim, and interior would show normal wear, needing only minor reconditioning. May also be a deteriorated restoration or a very poor amateur restoration. Most usable "as-is".

Some of the vehicles in this publication could be considered "Daily Drivers" and are not valued as a classic vehicle. When determining a value for a daily driver, it is recommended that the subscriber use the low retail value.
Note: This value does not represent a "parts car".

Average Retail Value
This vehicle would be in good condition overall. It could be an older restoration or a well-maintained original vehicle. Completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. A "20-footer".

I don't have any old old cars but my dream one is a 66 or 67 NOVA.  Maybe one day!!!  However I do have a 85 Nissan 300Z thats collecting dust.

The coke machine is my first project and one that I have sparked up a lot of passion for.

This is my 1955 chevy project, it's a complete frame off restoration , it's taken me a while to get it to this point . I do my own bodywork and paint. The complete underside and frame are painted red just like the outside of the car. Many hours were spent on just the underside, still more work to done but i'm slowly getting there.

BY FAR the GREATEST bike I have ever owned!

I bought this car when I was a senior in high school in 1958.  It is the first car I ever owned and I never sold it.

It is a 1935 Plymouth Deluxe Business Coupe.

Love seeing everyone's cars.

I get a kick out of seeing how much money the 60's & 70's muscle cars are going for these days.  Many of these classics were our $300 dollar cars during high school. 

I have had a long list of classic cars, most I paid less than $400 for at the time.   I had several late 60-early 70's VW Bugs, a 1971 Chevy Nova, a bunch of Porsche 914's (OK, it was like 9 of them, 4 drivers & 5 parts cars). 

Perhaps my favorite was a 1968 Buick Skylark Convertible that had a built-out 430 big block.  This car was quite the sleeper.  The car was yellow with a white interior & looked like an old-man cruiser (well, I guess it was an old-man cruiser).  It was just silly how fast it was, as long as you were going in a straight line.  I always had fun with it blowing away knuckleheads in their riced-out Honda's. 

I gotta scan some of the old pictures I have of these cars; the majority of them were pre digital camera days.

Attached are my current toys; a mint 1973 Mercury Montego Brougham with under 26,000 origonal miles and a 1975 Porsche 914 that needs a restoration.  As nice as the Montego is, I prefer the ride of the 914.

What I think is amazing is how cheap insurance for the classic cars. Thank God for that !!!!

That is true, but they kill us here in TAXachusetts at the Department of Motor Vehicles when you go to get at title.

My $600 dollar porsche cost over $350 to title due to the Classic Car NADA Value being betwee $5000 to $8600  :jawdrop:.  THe Mass DMV will not accept the bill of sale; hey charge you the lowest "asessed" value.

This is my all original 1971 429 CJ mustang. I had it shipped here from Canada and it only has 48K miles on it. They only made 858 in 71 with the 429 big block.

Know what you mean about gas, the Chev. 409 409 I bought new in 1962 got 5 miles to the gallon, I could unhook one 4 barrel and could manage 8 mpg.

Illinois secretary of state is now trying to push the Nada classic car price for tax purposes. The title transfer on any car is 75.00

I have a 57 chevy Belair hardtop. It is completely stock. I have won several shows and best of show awards. I have been invited to the best of best shows 3 years in a row. This car is identical to the same car my wife and I had when we dated. I also have a 61 chevy apache pickup, stepside with short bed. It has a 350 motor in it, otherwise has been restored to original condition. I also have a 1949 Harry Ferguson tractor I am restoring. It is similar to the Ford 8N and working on my coke machine.
