Title: Re: 1st time painting Post by: RC kid on October 02, 2009, 09:19:42 am There are a lot of things involved with applying paint. I recently bought a book at Barnes and Noble and I found it to be very informative. Having pained some machines and a car, with excellent results, I still learned a lot from the book.
Right now I am using a Valspar single stage enamel and I am getting excellent results with it. And believe it or not, a coke machine is an excellent first project. It is not so large that you get fatigued while applying the paint and if you mess up and get a run or fish eyes, just step back, let the paint dry, and then sand it down and try again. Title: Re: 1st time painting Post by: wampdawg on October 02, 2009, 09:26:31 am I thought about just cleaning it up a little and doing the pedestal base, but I think the woodgrain has to go. I like the way that halehouse's compact turned out. I may try and get some inspiration from it as far as a paint scheme goes.

It goes on great for an area like that. Title: Re: 1st time painting Post by: halehouse on October 02, 2009, 03:22:48 pm Here are pics after using the hammered paint.

And if you want, it is available for paint gun applications also.

What was the title of the book? Title: Re: 1st time painting Post by: RC kid on October 07, 2009, 08:00:41 pm 'How to paint your car on a budget'. It appears to be a new release, I bought it at Barnes and Noble last month. I left it at work. If you need the Author's name I can get it Next Monday.
