Title: Stripping and repainting cav 72
Post by: on June 28, 2003, 02:11:21 am
Hello,

I am going to attempt to strip and repaint the outside of my Cav 72 below...

I found one website that has a couple different paint codes for the red and white.  If anyone has any other paints code/suggestions that would be great. Would I be using automotive paint for this?  Also if anyone has any tips/suggestions for stripping and painting it would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

I posted this..

a few months ago with some of the info you need.
I went through this same process a year ago and have the following comments.
Do it like auto body work, use guide coats etc. to find little dings and eliminate them.
Use stripper and some selective bead blasting, don't sand it or use a DA. The cabinet was galvanized before painting originally, if you sand it you will also sand off some of the galvanizing.
Use vinyl decals, the quality, opacity, and time to be ready for clearcoat is much better than those crappy water transfer decals. These soda machines are the only area I know of where people still accept this junk.

Godd luck!

Nate
