Title: Silkscreening glass
Post by: on October 22, 2002, 10:06:36 pm
I was talking to my brother and he has a 30-40's cigarette vending machine. He told me that the glass that says "cigarettes" got busted and he can't find anyone to reproduce it. He has a picture of it.
I told him I would post a message and see if I get a response.
Does anybody know where he might be able to get this done or have any ideas for him?
Thanks,
Tom ???

Go look in your local yellow pages and look under "signs" & "sign painters" my local outdoor sign guy can reproduce just about any sign you can throw at 'em, plastic, glass, etc.  there's usally a fee (mine was $100)for the computer work & another for the sign itself, but once they have the sign scaned into the computer, they can reproduce as many as needed in the future. also many higher end print shops have the ability to silk screen smaller signs. if the glass was etched
then you might want to check out glass/mirror places too.

JohnieG hit the nail on the head.
I'll only suggest that you could have this done on a reverse vinyl decal and place the decal on the inside of the glass.

Be prepared for the initial cost to be a little expensive for scanning and computer work as JohnieG has stated.

If the need is for etched glass, the sign company can produce a "negative" decal from special material that can resist sand blasting which will give an etched look...
