Can anyone verify that a vendo 110 round top does not use a starter?  I have the door off, see previous post, and do not see one anywhere. So, if the light is flickering, and I have already replaced the bulb, am I correct to replace the ballast?

Thanks as always for any light you may be able to shed on this.

Love the pun!

The light switch is kind of the starter for this type of fluorescent/ballast lighting. You'll hold the light switch in for a second or two so the bulb can start.
A quick look at the manual reveals no starter.

Thanks again!  So, then does a blinking bulb seem to indicate a ballast issue?

Is the bulb making good contact with the "tombstones" or light sockets...?
Try lightly pushing the bulb inward and holding to see if you get better results...
Can you visually inspect the sockets to ensure they're clean, not broken or damaged...?
If this is a correct replacement bulb and it doesn't illuminate properly, then yes, replace the ballast.

Yes, checked the contacts.  Ballast it is then.  Thank you again for the expert, and fast response!

Did you hold the button in above the door (as suggested) on the inside for at least five seconds?  I had the flickering lights problem too.  The switch held in is your starter.  Try that before changing the ballast.

Yes, I had tried that. Went and tried again for good measure... No go.  I will be buying a new Tstat and ballast on Monday.

Thanks again for the info/suggestions.
