My buddy picked up a V63 bottle machine in decent shape. He brought it in for me to go over and show him around a bit. Anyway, while I was doing some testing, the coin mech is working for the most part, but it does not accept nickels. It dispenses nickels for change, but does not accept them. This is the all metal coinco without the circuit board. I also cannot see how to set the vend price if it is possible. It is currently set for 15cents. I haven't given the rejector a bath yet, but it seems pretty clean and free. Any ideas, or just replace it?

Can you post a picture of the mech?
Does the mech work when nickels are manually inserted in their slots (rejector removed)?
Can you tell where the nickel path goes wrong. I have seen some pretty wierd things done to rejectors. Sometimes people have pinched a wire in the nickel path, sometimes a part has been removed and sometimes it is just plain dirty and the nickel is slowed up enough to not get the bounce it needs off the anvil.
As far as price changes, there are no dip switches or anything behind the rejector. I'll have to look, but I may have a manual for it.

With the slug rejector out, the nickels go into each tube without trouble. I can't seem to tell exactly where it is getting kicked out because it does happen fast. Originally, the dimes were doing the same thing, but after moving stuff around and playing with it, the dimes now work. Here are a few pics.. maybe something is out of adjustment? All the wheels and cams move....

I think I have manual for this one also... guess this is a reason that they make manuals?? '<img'>

Rejector pics.
I took the plate off the front of this, but it is normally there.

From what I can see, it looks as if it is having trouble next to the magnets ( I think thats what they are??

I have drawn on your picture.
The red line indicates the basic path of the nickel as it passes through the rejector.
I am not totally familiar with this particular rejector, but they are all very similar in operation. With the top plate off as you have it pictured, try the nickel again and see if you can get a better idea where the coin is being rejected. I have drawn blue arrows to two screws. If these go all the way through the plate, they MIGHT be in the way of the nickel path.

Ken - I had a an FP9800 that looks like yours.  My circuit board was blown so I can't promise this will work, but if you take off the back plate that exposes the circuit board, I think you'll find some DIP switches, that I assume will allow you to change the price.

Bryan... This changer doesn't have a circuit board that I have found. I'll have another look at it tomorrow, but this one is different that the other coincos' I have worked with. There is one more cover I didn't touch, but I will look at that tomorrow.

Tom.. I'll give it another shot tomorrow and see if I can narrow down what is happening. I tried another rejector today, and it did the same thing. I don't know if they were interchangeable or not, as the one giving me trouble is a metal rejector, and the good one is plastic.

Ken,

The removeable panel is on the back towards the bottom.

Also try adjusting the screw indicated by the red arrow. This will increase or decrease the space between the magnets.
