Kito,
Too bad you're in MN and I'm (soon to be) in Maine, I could show you alot in the way of bodywork and basics in paint...

...I figure it would be nice to assist someone else with the same passion...so if you're ever in Maine.... '<img'>

Congrats on your new baby 'kito!!

Eric,
How wonderfully kind of you to offer to take me under your wing. That is so nice and exactly what I need. Too bad I a never in the Maine area (though I sure wish I were).

I will remember your good deed and who knows, maybe someday. But if you (or anyone else here) are ever passing through Minnesota (I'm only 15 minutes from the Minneapolis/Saint Paul Int. airport) I'd love to meet you and vend you an ice cold glass bottled drink from the V-216MD in my kitchen.

Thanks again Eric, really nice of you.

Hey Guys,
I also like the look of the early 60s square corners and really dislike the woodgrain finish of the mid to late 60s machines.  For those who want to get the cooler look (IMHO) of the Have a Coke or TGBWC sides and the all metal front door, I have found that a heat gun, maybe even a hair dryer, can take off mid 60s / replacement decals and woodgrain more effevctively...I just took off the woodgrain today and used a heat gun...it just pulled right off in big pieces.  I feel sorry for my buddy who once used a razor blade to cut it off...in small pieces I am sure....

Hey vendobaldtops,
Thanks for the great info.
I will be doing a lot of decal removal on my newly won V-56 and will use the heatgun/hairdrier. That just saved me a lot of time and effort.

I haven't driven down there to pick it up yet because financially times are really tough right now and I think the wife would freak if I showed up with a new toy (since I don't plan to ever sell it). The seller told me I could keep it with him in his storage unit for a few extra weeks.

Frustrating because I want to get started on it right away, but then staying married is important too. '<img'>

Just a little update. I'm not sure how many of you go back and re-read old posts. I do once in a while. I was going for after I modified this. It would go back towards the top. But it didn't. So I added this part.

later,

Josh
