Mid to late 50s ... close to a Stoner machine... It's missing its base which would bring it to about
5-6' tall..... cool looking. See if he has the base.
Good Luck

Getting back to your question Dave. That looks like a nice complete machine.
Yes it has a lot in common with the stoner but I think this larger bottom section looks even better. A base for it can easily be made.
Buy-it-now is reasonable, and no overseas shipping costs.
Tell your wife we forced you into this one...:D

Hi Chaps

went to see the machine today. Its a bit batter and bruised and after a bit of a struggle I managed
to get the front door off. It would appear that the vending mech is NOT complete. The columns are there but whatever gate system there was to stop the bar droping through has been removed.

How easy is it to obtasin parts for this machine?? Anyone have a picture of what the complete vending mech looks like so I can gauge what's missing. Are decals etc easily and reasonable available??

The machine ran its time on Ebay with no bids. I offered him £60.00 but he wants his £100.00 (Just double for dollars) So don't know what to do. Hearts says grab it. Head says use your money for the V-56. Wife just gives a look of disgust.

Help Me guys... I'm addicted.

I'd say pass.... Wait and save for Dole parts and restore your 56.
That is missing pieces I've not seen and a base.... So unless he drops the price way down.
Wait for something better. The way your luck is running here lately a Stoner Jr will fall in
your yard anyway :)

Okay now promise not to tell mey wife, but I was over at my parents today and the seller of the Candy Machine is only 2 miles down the road. Guess what, I went to have a look and bought it. £60.00 I thought that was good. Its currently sitting in the car waiting for the Mrs to go to work before I can hide it under a blanket in my garage.

Its missing its base but the seller has given me details of someone who could repro one at a reasonable price.

I took some pictures of the inside because there seems to be bits missing from the mech. Does anyone have these missing pieces or know where I could get hold of them.

I've just done a search on ebay and found this
 http://cgi.ebay.com/THE-OLD....iewItem

Looks like I am missing quite a bit. Mine is six instead of the nine in the auction. I'm sure someone here was parting out a National Vender a while ago.

Eric had two or three of the National vendors, but I am pretty sure Joey has them now (in trade for the Pepsi 88).

Dave what are you gonna tell the wife when she finds it?

Well Terry that problem has already arisen.

I worked late tonight only to come home to a very frosty house. I did the only thing a man
could do in that situation. I told her that you all egged me on and its not my fault I've just
fallen under the spell of a group of crazy Americans who have brainwashed me across cyberspace.

It was at about that time that the frying pan came flying across the room and she stormed off to bed.
If you think about it logically though, wives are much easier to come by here in England then National Candy
Machines.

Only kidding.... Hoping to get it out to my brother's at the weekend. Roped my dad in too to have a go at
re-spraying it. When she sees it all done up she'll melt.

I just got very excited when I found this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....IT&rd=1

Only to phone up and find that the decals are too wide for my little machine.

Does anyone know where I can get a set made up?? I've sort of fell in love with them.
I know it won't be historically correct but I tihkn they'd look smart on my new toy.

Dave.. you might send Curtis from Memorylane a pm or email... He'd be the man I think to point you in the right direction. I spoke with him last week on my candy machine...heck of a guy.. I am probably going to meet up with him in 2 weeks while he is delivering a few machines in my area..

Hi Joey

Thanks for the pictures. Looking at what you have I think that I missing the majority of the outer casing
of the coin mech, although I don't think mine id Identical to yours.

My vending mech inside the columns is completely empty. I don't have any of the trays. The trays look like they collapse. Is that how the Candy bar gets from the top to the bottom?? I also don't have anything that would stop the bar dropping out at the bottom. That's masked in your picture by the Trays. In my mech there are pieces of metal with holes in them that must have contained the gate system.

Hope this makes sense. Anyone who has any idea plse feel free to chip in.

Dave

Well Dave, here is my opinion. Restore the outside real nice, new paint, glass and decals.  Stock all 6 windows with your favorite candy bars and display it in your game room.

So what if it doesn't work..........it looks real cool!

Glen

I think that this is the option I'm currently going to take. It would be nice to have the bits that get it working and I know there are a few people on the group that have or can get those parts so if and when they become available I'll try and get them. Have already striped the cabinet down to metal. Found a chap local that can do
the decals and exploring the option of gettting the stand made.

My dad, who is desperate to re-spray the V-56 can have the cabinet (it keeps him happy and lets me get the v-56 done professionally) Everyone happy.

I love the machine and I'm really glad I took your advice and grabbed it in the end. I think it will look great next to the other bits and pieces. Its an Item I never thought I have.

Thanks for the words of wisdom BUT I ahve made a promise on "loss of limb" (she can chose which one) that this will be the last for a while.

Okay Chaps Need your help on this.

The sign on the candy machine has broken and was home-made anyway.

I have found someone to replace it and now have to decide what to have it say. I could go for "Candy" like it said previously but I was hoping for something more inspirational.

Maybe "Hershey" or some sort of a 1950's phrase.

Anyone have any bright ideas. Last time I asked a question like this I managed to get a cool sign for my gameroom door.

This is what is on there at the moment.

I took Glens Advice. I stripped the machine down and got my dad to spray it. Spraybomb I have to confess. I know I know but to a layman it still looks pretty good.

Anyway, the only reason I got the machine was to give my dad a job so as to take his mind off trying to spray my V-56. He was convinced he wanted to spraybomb that and there was no way I was going to allow him to do it. Diplomacy prevailed.

I got a neighbour to make up the decals and sign and hey presto a new machine that looks just great. Something I could never have hoped to have had a few months ago.

Just need someone to make me a stand now. No one seems at all interested. Guess business must be good here to turn down work.

Here's some pictures.

And now a couple after...

All I need now is to get the bits for the inside so that the kids can get fat eating the chocolate bars.

Looks like you all did a great job.

What kind of candy is the Oat... that is in the middle?

Post by: davethebirdman on July 27, 2006, 10:03:09 am
Ha

that's just an Oat Bar.I am going to get some Hershey Bars to give it the real American look. In the meantime I used what we had in the fridge. Most of the bars have melted due to our "Heatwave." There was a BreakAway Chocloate Bar but that just turned to melted chocolate so I replaced it with the Oat Bar.

There's Cadbury's Penguin. Two different KitKats a Drifter bar and a Snickers.

When I was a kid (70's/80's) the movie theater downtown stocked boxed hard (non-melting) candy like Jaw Breakers, Red Hots, Lemon Heads, etc.

Good job chaps. They say the hardest part of any job is starting.  Looks like a great storage cabinet.

I have had Stoner candy machines, the lock was on the left side and the door swung open left to right.  Your lock is on top, how does the door open ?

Hi Glen

It pulls forward and then pulls away from the cabinet. The feet are in slots on the bottom of the machine. I'm not sure how it would fix to the base. There doesn't appear to be any bolt holes. I was actually wondering whether it was wall mounted. There are fixing holes in the rear. But with the vending mech in place is bloody heavy. I wouldn't want to put it on a wall without some sort of cast iron bracket.

If I can't get a base made it might be an option though.

Just a thought, but could the fixing holes in the rear be just to secure it to a wall so it couldn't be tipped, etc ? (ie. still floor mounted, just bolted to the wall so it doesn't move)

OMG !  I've seen the Cavalier 102 with the sign "whites only" on the front door and "colored only" on the rear.  This is even more outrageous than that!

Imagine...........vending candy  AND  cigarettes from the same machine ???
