I spotted this cooler on CL. It looks pretty clean and was wondering if it's worth $300.00? Also I'm not sure what kind it is I'm guessing Westinghouse but would appreciate a correct ID.
                    Thanks,Ken

From what i can see it looks like a late 30's Westy. The stamp inside would settle any doubt. Cool

Its a Westinghouse Standard, missing the cap catcher, originals go between $100 and above $200 sometimes more than what the cooler is worth. As long as there isn't any rust $300 not bad, I've see some sell for more with rust issues.

I like the Coke standards... if the lids are solid and have nice handles, good tub body solid that's a good price... lids are often times
rusted out... and new lids are $$ this looks like a all open underneath older model the 30s... you'll need a cap catcher.. those are repro'd
close to original catcher.. but have flat bottoms to where the originals had rounded bottoms

I agree, I think it is a good cooler and priced right as I have been watching these closely lately.

I have some friends in a nearby town, the only town around that allows fireworks.
For the last 30 years their street has held a traditional block party on July 4th.
This year I attended and found them with a complete Ideal 55 slider in the driveway, rack safely removed and stored, the entire top section filled with ice and drinks. They don't know if the cooling works, they just like their beer on ice better.
I have since been searching for a Westinghouse standard just like this one, as these people would be more than happy to trade their 55 for it.

Check along the top edge of the tub inside may have a date embossed in it....

$350.00 is about as high as I would go on a real nice solid piece. The cap catcher isn't an issue if you don't mind the reproduction ones. The originals are treated like gold for some reason.
