What do you guys know about this configuration?  My mom is a Dr Pepper drinker from WAY back, and I thought it would be a hoot to see if I could reproduce this.

(Yes, I know I'm insane.  I am planning on doing something like this with my first restoration.  But it is sooooo cool!)

Shelly,
I think that is what is known as the DP Queen Anne machine. Might be difficult to duplicate exactly as it has these ornate corner pieces and legs - not to mention the marquee sign; however, you could certainly do the color scheme.

I think the hardest part would be to find that sign.  Perhaps you could do Dr Pepper, just not that one?  Something more like the dark red Dr Pepper color. I would think you could come up with a more "traditional" looking sign too.

That Sign is just not my cup of tea. I'm with Terry I just love that early DP Light green with red bricks. Much more classy and if you are not going for a true historical resotoration that's what I would do. I'm seriously considering it on my Jacobs Pepsi .

Does anybody repop the signs/ornate pieces for the Queen Annes ? Not that I would try and re-create one, more likely would be to try and find one unrestored and go from there.

What do those sell for usually ? both restored and unrestored price..   (and how does that compare with a standard V-63 in coke red for example)

I hope one day to own a V-63.. a Queen Anne would just be a bonus !

Frankly, I like the light green and the bricks, too, however, the Queen Anne logo IS my mom's cup of tea.  So, I'm going to see if I can find a few of the parts (or find something that would substitute fairly nicely), then work through the local DP bottler / office here.  They might be able to find that image for me.

If I can just get a good digital image of that thing, I'll FIND a way to get it on plexiglass.

On a positive note, my dad is a mason, so maybe I could "talk" myself and my parents into the whole bricks idea.

Better to look into the seller of the original Queen Anne for 3 reasons.  First, that will be more valuable than a reproduction. Second, you may spend more than $1500.00 buying a machine and trying to copy the original. That sign will be a challenge $$$
White is not a Dr. Pepper color anyway!
Third, the seller of the original Queen Anne may have had it for too long and decides that if you really like it, he will make you a deal you can't refuse

Well everyone has as a opinion on what they like and what they don't , Myself I do like those machines.
As to changing a vendo 63 over, It can be done
and as far as the marquee that can be done.
the one I did for my Vernors was a little over $100
and yes it was worth it, And yes I may do it again.
Now this would not be a original Queen Ann
and not worth as much as the original,
But who care's, You did it for for your
mom . OH Yeah for those ornamental piece's
check out VanDyke's they have a web site also
 www.vandykes.com   and some cool stuff.

Well, there you go...  ':<img:'>

I came across one of these at an antique shop a few years back and tried to talk myself into buying it, but they just don't do it for me.  The all white theme is not my cup o' tea...  '<img'>

The story goes...Dr.pepper had around 800 or so of these machines made for the retiring folks with the Dr. Pepper Co.   Kind of a retirement gift. The remaining machines found their way out in the field, as part of the vending services offered by Dr. Pepper.

I have been fortunate and have owned 2 of these machines. I sold the 1st one, all original, for $2200. It needed to be restored but had all the castings and perfect light up sign. The second one we have, is also original, complete, and running, being a 9+ on a scale of 10. I have been offered $3000 for this one, turning them down...flat!    Wife said so. '<img'>

Here in Texas, Dr. Pepper is King...blah, blah, blah.....But some folks are just crazy for the stuff. Some of my biggest jobs however, were for Dr.Pepper collectors. I personally think the machines are attractive, unique, and make a great addition to any collection!

Whether what I've heard is correct or not, it's still a neat story.

Eric '<img'>

PS...Tom, way to hustle on the sign!   Man...if I need anything, you can just snap your fingers and get it for me...okay? '<img'>

Everybody does their part here at SMC! If you need something, somebody here can usually help. Being from Texas, I too am a DP nut (I like it a lot better than Coke) - so my searches usually include DP somehow. I saw it and thought of Shelly.

I think so. I missed that whole Lyon's machine discussion, but read it the other day when I was searching for something - he seemed to ruffle a few feathers around here.
