A Milwaukee paper did a story over the weekend on the two bottlers in Wisconsin that still use returnable bottles.  Here it is in case any of you want to read it.
Mmmmm.  I think I have to go downstairs and grab an ice cold Sun-drop out of the machine!  drinking

Seymour is all "flavor" sodas, which are all real good.  My favorites are the (dark) cream soda, black cherry and blue raspberry.  I buy Sun-drop and 76 from Twig's.  You have not had Sun-drop until you have the stuff from Twig's.  Made with sugar and little citrus chunks floating around.  The stuff that comes out of a fountain or is in a can can not compare.  I tried their Diet Sun-drop this past summer and it is good too.  It really doesn't have a diet aftertaste.  The 76 is a lemon-lime, or as they call it, a white soda.  Tastes like 7up or Sprite but a little sweeter.

I think a road trip is in order for me as well.. I have to go over towards Appleton for a Stoner Candy Machine I just bought... so might make a stop for some cases of pop... any idea on price of what they charge and deposits?
Either at Twigs in Shawano or at the one in New London ?
Plus I go that way for Packer games 4-6 times a year... so returns would not be a big deal.

The bottler in New London is closed I think you meant Shawano and Seymour which ar both close to Green Bay. Deposit at Seymour was $4 last time I bought some and I believe it is now $10 at Twig's.

When I could still drink sugar soda my favorites at Seymour were the Lime, Cranberry, blue raspberry and has hard as it is to believe their Cola. If you are at Seymour at the right time you can get Twig bottled Sun Drop saving you a trip. I used to love the 76 too.

I wasn't aware that Twig bottled the Diet Sun Drop in bottles so I may have to stop when I head over to Green Bay in April.

Twig's just started bottling the diet about a year or two ago.
I receive about 2-3 emails a year telling me that the New London Kist Company may not be closed.  I came across someone in another forum stating this, so I got in contact with them.  Here is part of what they said,
Quote
He  seems to  very
hard to get ahold of . we stopped by the plant on mon 2 11 08 in 10  below  zero
weather  to drop off  his bottles  when his son came outside to warm up his
truck   he said his dad just got back from  europe  . anyways  3 minutes later
his dad opened the side door of the plant  we brought   the  bottles in  and had
a 45 minute conversation  with him  the only reasoon  we did not talk longer was
that it was cold and we were afraid the pop would freeze  and the bottles would
break . keith w  says he has heard that he is out of business  many times   he
just laughed when I said it to him . As far as the state  saying he is closed
i  bet it is some  kind of permit or license  that he has let lapse   more then
actually being closed down
They also gave me the names of a few liquor stores that carry the Kist flavors (it seems that they only distribute to liquor stores).  The person also gave me the name of one liquor store that used to carry NL Kist, but dropped them and now carries Seymour.  The owner's parents used to own the Little Chutes bottling plant.  About half of my 10 oz. bottles from Seymour are from Little Chutes (Little Chutes is just outside of Appleton).

If you are going to Appleton, you need to stop at the Stone Cellar Brewpub.  I stop by there for lunch (liquid and solid) on my trips.  I also pick up a few cases of their beer and root beer.  The root beer is very tasty.  The bottles say, "Lighter than the rest, but still the best.  drinking

How much is the Seymours and SunDrop per case? I was going to Winona to get some bottled coke stuff and I thought I could go through  via the dairy state .

Your description of the floating citrus chunks  brought back memories of Dew in hillbilly bottles with real sugar. Great stuff. The sugar dew at West Jefferson is good, just not quite as good as the old days

I think the Seymour is $5-$6 and the Sun-drop is around $7.

Bought home some bottled Sun Drop along with A&W from Williamsburg (we visited last week).  I am curious to try the Sun Drop and see how it compares.

Did you have a chance to try the Sun-Drop yet?  I'm getting ready to head up to Wisconsin and Minnesota this week for my soda run.  But first I have to go back to Kalamazoo, MI in a few minutes to pick up my camping utility trailer.  One of the bearings/hubs blew out, so I have to bring my "landscaping" trailer up to pick it up.  At least this happened about two hours from home instead of in the Da Upper Peninsula.  Looks like I'll be using some tarps for my soda run since I will not have an enclosed trailer this time!  darn
