Title: Bowout cavalier cd-22 cooler questions
Post by: on March 01, 2006, 01:01:46 pm
Hi all,
I have a lead on a bowout Cavalier model CD-22 cooler that measures 72.5" long x 36 1/4" high x 28.5" deep.

What I am wondering is, if it is in nice condition and works, what do you think it is worth? How much do they sell for on average?

Secondly, and this might be a dumb question, because I assume it is very heavy, but here goes...  if I removed the seats from my minivan and that freed up over 6 feet in the back, would the cooler be too heavy for my minivan? Or would I have to rent a flatbed truck?

While I am no newbie to soda machines, I am completely clueless about the coolers.

Thanks,
~'kito

I see from this old vintage ad here that it weighs 455 lbs. crated. That's only like 3 passengers, right?
So would 455 lbs. in the back of my minivan be fine?

Should be alright. Watch it on bumps and corners. Good luck on the auction!!

Mark if you are buying that to resell make sure you are getting a great deal. Thise big coolers are hard to sell. Also I think it is a little bigger than you think. I really doubt it will fit in your van. Good luck

My hubby moved mine on a flat trailer. We had to use wd 40 on the casters to roll it out.

Yours is in better condition than mine it has all the cap catchers.

Paint looks good.

Be careful, I hurt my back moving mine and was on the couch for a long time.

:p 450lbs is only like an in law or two:laugh: Heck they usually bring luggage as well.  I guess it depends on if the corners will make it in.  Unfortunately inlaws are mostly corner free!!!

If you are going to restore it any way then I have a thought.   Remove the codensore deck and cooling system from the unit before you move it.  It will save you about 100 pounds.  Also, remove the lids and cap catchers as well.  I had to move a 500 pund GE Double chiller Pepsi machine and it was a nightmare.  Good luck.

If you do buy it, eventually dont like it and decide to part it out, give me a shout first.

I'm looking for lids and cap catchers.
