Title: Machine not getting cold
Post by: on January 22, 2002, 01:12:45 am
I just purchased a Pepsi Vendolator soda machine and it does not get cold. I would like to know how I go about recharging the freon. Can I do it myself or who would be the cheapest place to have it done? Is the freon the same as the one they put in to cars? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Gabe,

First, are you sure that all it needs is freon? You might want to check further and see if you may have a leak. Second, you will need to use an R12 replacement. If you use R134a, as in your car, you will have problems and maybe take out you compressor. The older machines can't handle the new freon.
Check to see if the thermostat is working as well. Sometimes the unit won't come on and the stat is the problem. Last, if the condenser fan is running but the compressor isn't, check to see if you have a bad connection in the wiring to the compressor. Hope this helps.
