Ok this is a strange problem.  All my coins pass right through the coin return when put into the machine but when i open it up and release the two pins on the side of the top portion of the coin mechanism...the part that comes out..all the coins pass through fine but onece that peice that comes out is in there tight it doesnt.  Any ideas? Also the dip switches can i turn off a price with them or just unplug the coin mechanism for free cans? Also the arm inside when u load the coke, presses down and "exact change only" lights up on the machine and that is the only time it will vend? ANy ideas on that? thanks alot

Hi & welcome, well first, what kind of machine are we talking about here? please tell us the manufacture & model no. on the tag of the machine, as different manufactures used different coin mechs'

Now then, in general, if you set the coin-switches to all "off" (down) the machine will vend on any coin deposited, but it won't "free-vend", (so if you just drop in a nickle, a dime or a quarter, it will vend, but may not give you change.
if you just unplug the coinmech' that won't do it either.

Next, the important clue you gave was that when you press the "empty" lever, the "correct-change-only" light comes on, this tells me you probably have a Coinco model S75-9800 series coinmech. if so, then your problem of the coinmech' rejecting your coins is simple, you have no Nickels in the change tubes! (that's why when you tilt the "slug-rejector" a little it will accept coins & not when it's "snapped back in" as you've said...

So... first, fill up the coinmechs' Nickel tubes ( for the machine to give change) with a minimum of about 10 Nickels
in each tube to start with, drop them in the top of the tubes at a slight angle, & make sure they lay flat in the tubes, (you can see them thru the holes in the tubes, next, fill each column with soda cans so the "Empty" light on each button goes out (assuming you have a muti-button machine), now starting with all of the coinmechs' price switches down (off) lets set the price to 10-cents ( from left to right, each switch is assigned a coin amount as follows, 5, 10, 15, 20, 40, 80. cents, to set the price to 10-cents, flip the second switch from the left "up" (10-cents) to increase the price, just add the price-switches, so, 25-cents= switch no. 1 + switch no.3 (5+15=25). this should help you out to get you started... No, must'a been a brain-flatulance, but hey, that's what the "Edit" switch is for!

Thanks for catching it... '<img'>
