help I am looking at picking up this Westinghouse standard cooler (I think that’s what it is) this weekend but I know little to nothing about them. So if anyone could give me some advice on what to look for, what items are hard to find and what would be a fair price for this cooler it would be much appreciated.. Thank you.

Looks like a lot of work!  It was a wet chest, and it doesn't look like the compressor is there anymore, along with a few rotted out cross-bars on the bottom.  If the water circulator motor (second pic) doesn't work, they are very tough to find.  Lids are also tough to come by if you are looking for original embossed, otherwise Funtronics sells the stainless ones.

If you're going to keep it, turning it into an ice chest is probably your best bet.  The cooling lines can be removed easily, but they will leave a notch in the top back edge that will need to be filled.

That being said, I was watching a Standard shell (no tub or anything) on eBay last week, and it went for $120 or so.  I was surprised at the price, I had one three years ago in decent shape with everything there that I could barely sell for $100.

Thanks tkaz for the info. I think I can get it for 150.00 but will pass if he will not budge.  I was wanting one to set out on the back deck. I would just make it an ice chest. I sure don't want to wrap a lot of money up into one.

I think if you hold off a bit, one will come by that is MUCH better at just a couple of bucks more.

Looks like a master, $100 at best, for parts, most of the time you find these something is missing or rusted out, and it take 2 or 3 to make one good one.

http://gallery.antiquevending.com/wetdrymaster7.jpg  makes a conversion from wet to dry unit for these coolers, I don't see were them sell them separately, I think this is part of there restoration.

Thanks everyone, I was only considering this one because It was practically in my back yard, but sounds like it would be more hassle than I want to get into right now.  Cool

Well he made me an offer I could not refuse so I ended up saving this one from the scrap yard. 1941 Westinghouse Master.  Now for the want list...
I need to find some doors, bottle cap catcher and compressor... Willing to bet finding a compressor is going to be fun. glare
