This one had been sitting in a heated garage under a pile of junk for 17 years untouched. Apparently purchased by one of the lady's sons at an estate auction, and he put in mom's garage for "a little while" until he could restore it. It never moved...She wanted her garage cleaned out for the spring and had her other son post an ad to get rid of it. Brought it home for..... $100..... missing a few pieces, most notably the legs (?), but I thought it was a pretty good deal.....

Oh yeah, you did very well. And  wouldn't be surprised if the  legs are in the cabinet.

The AMI G  can really belt it out.

Thanks guys... Kilroy, I hope your right!...  I ordered a key for it, will have to wait to see... Plugged it in, amp works (touching the needle produces lots of noise), lights up and the turntable spins... the carriage won't move, will have to do some investigating... I found the manual as a pdf online... the mech is similar to the D80 that I've had for the last 25 years, so hopefully troubleshooting won't be too bad... it needs a good cleaning!

I have some experience with the 120 Gs and fs.  Let me know if you need anything.

Thanks Brian, I'll take you up on the offer! I don't yet have a key for the cabinet, and can't get the carriage to move right now, including using the travel button next to the DC switch... it may just be a fuse, but I can't yet get at the junction box...

Same problem, fuse was the culprit.

They can be a little tricky but they sound great when working.  I like the sound quality of the  AMI's but the looks of my Seeburg 100s.

I'll let you know as soon as I can get the cabinet open if it is a fuse... agree about the sound from the AMIs, and they are definitely a little ugly when compared to the Seeburgs of the same era...

Ordered all the parts today that I can see that I need from Jukeboxparts.com...

Well, got the key today... opened up the cabinet, everything is there. Removed the junction box to check and the selenium rectifier had been replaced, but the wires were only wrapped around the terminals and not soldered. I soldered the wires and re-installed the junction box, still no movement of the carriage. Disconnected the arm from the carriage to allow the drive chain to move without the weight of the carriage, and it crawls very slowly. There was an original looking selenium rectifier in the cabinet, I installed it, and no movement of the chain at all... it was probably the original that went bad.... I'm thinking that I'm not getting sufficient DC voltage to power the motors and this is the problem. The selector buttons are dead as well... Any thoughts gang?

Thanks,

Chris
