I went to put a new thermostat on the machine and found that someone cut the old cap tub or broke it off inside the guide tube, and then coiled up the therm tube just about a inch inside. veryangry Any thoughts on how to remove the old tube stuck inside? Maybe cut a slit in the guide tub until I can see the damaged area?

go to the auto parts store & get a spring-puller, looks like a screwdriver, but it has a hardened "hook" on the end to install & remove small springs, push it up inside the coil, & turn it sideways to hook the coils of the broken t-stat tubing & pull it out, ( or fabicate your own)
