What type of compressor do I need for this type of machine?  The whole system needs to be replaced.

I did some research and if you refinish it, it would sell for at least $5000 easy.

probably 1/4 to 1/3 HP unit, take the model no. off of the actual compressor & take it to your supplier so they can cross reference it for you.  the horse-power rating should also be listed on the compressors specification tag somewhere on it's mounting plate, or elsewhere on the machine.

According to the manual (available in the downloads section - page 2 - Victor Coolers-Model C-18, C-31, C-45) it is a 1/2 HP and power should to be hardwired to the junction box on the cooler.

I just checked the plate on mine and it is a 1/2HP.  The unit in mine is a Tecumseh but I am not 100% sure that it is original.  For reference, at some point someone wrote on the inside of the compressor area with a Sharpie "R-12 18oz".

Hope that helps.
