Hey Guys,
Have come across this thing that looks like an older cooler, but can't quite make out the embossing on front since it's been repainted over.  Any ideas as to what it might be?  Is it worth getting, if so, how much should I pay for it?  Thanks.

Appears as though the embossing starts with an "S".  Huh?

I thought I could see that too....Squirt?
If the price was right, I'd buy it!
How much are they asking for it?

Depends highly on what brand it is and if it is an original cooler. I say that because I've never seen one before.
Appears to be an ice only cooler.
If it is not a hack job or fantasy piece, then $300-$400 wouldn't be out of line IMO

I was rather hoping that you might recognize it.  You suppose it may be a rare one?  What should I look for to determine that it's real or not?

An ID tag would help! Any signs of alterations (i.e. welding in the embossing)
Just remember rare does not always mean collectible or valuable.

I am really hung on what the embossing could be on this cooler.
I can almost see a "Q" like shape for the overall outline, but I can't find an example with that shape.
Let us know what it is....

The embossed 1st letter is a script "g"...(Grapette)...I reversed the images colors & it brought the embossing out enough to make it out .. tounge  lousy low-res pictures!

I was trying to do something like that, but couldn't figure out how to do it.  Grapette huh?  Cool.  If that helps identify it, please let me know as the auction is tomorrow and I may not have access to internet then and would like to know what it is if at all possible.  Thanks!!

Yeah I took into photoshop.. just too low res... large oval then a smaller to the bottom right
almost lookes like two rows of letters... wonder if sides are embossed too... might be a one of a kind.

Yeah, once I tried to apply an embossing effect, the second oval appeared in more clarity, so...I stand corrected...

That is what I was saying about the Q shape.

Well....unfortunately, I did not make it to the auction today, so we will never truly know... down  Unless you guys are able to figure it out.  At this point, I only hope you don't tell me that it's one of those extremely rare boxes that is worth a mint even it this condition... darn

I wasn't on line last night... I would have pushed you go to look at it... I've never seen that style
but that doesn't mean anything... it could have been for an Ice Cream or Beer... maybe it's good
we don't now that you didn't get it... Would the auctioneer at least tell you what brand it was
if you could contact them?

Yeah, I might be able to find out.  I'll be pretty busy tomorrow, but will look into it on Tuesday...or maybe will call tonight if I can find a number.  Either way, if I find anything out, I'll let you guys know.

Oh well.  Weren't meant to be!  If I had gone and saw it was a beer cooler, I probably would not have purchased anyway.  Maybe next time!!!

Then it probably came from Mexico and it seems they are always rusted.
